Hate more: ND or UM? (split from ND thread)

It's kind of weird. Football-wise-I hate ND more. I'll root for scUM to kick ND's ass, partially b/c they don't have all the media on their nuts 24-7, unlike the Irish and Jabba the Weiss.
Aside from football-in which I still hate them, I despise scUM in everything-hoops-the Fab $ive beating Jimmy Jackson to go to the FF, politics-more leftwing than Chairman Mao-pioneered affirmative action, location-suburb of Detroit-the most godforsaken, soulless, evil place on the planet next to Baghdad, stadium-looks like a giant gravel quarry, etc.
I don't hate ND in hoops-I actually like Mike Brey and like to them do well in the Big East. What I really hate about Catholic ND fans is the fact that they act like ND is the only Catholic school on the planet, and rooting for them is a holy obligation, to which I say "kiss my Jesuit ass-go Hoyas and BC Eagles". For non-Catholics, the Jesuits sort of have a reputation in the Catholic Church like OSU fans do in football-we're the best, we're proud of it, and we won't hesitate to let you know it. Needless to say, this sometimes annoys non-Jesuits/non-Jesuit school alumni, just like other B10 schools besides scUM and PSU have an inferiority complex in football.

Go back through the threads. I didn't know that ginn/smith/10/7 was 15... although I should have guessed it from his handle... and I apologized once I realized that... When he proceeded to tell me that I had no idea of the importance of The Game I gave him a shot across the bow.

As for your continued posts, I'm just stunned by the math and the logic.

As for making smart observations to young fans I'll go with this: when Michigan beats Notre Dame it is good for the Big 10 and good for Ohio State. You don't have to curb your hate or limit the bile you create when you think of Michigan, you only have to acknowledge that, like it or not, our fortunes are inexoriably entwined with Michigan's. it is the quality of BOTH programs that makes The Game The Game.

The title of the thread is not "Who do you root for when UM plays ND?"

I assume there are a lot of tOSU fans like me who hate Michigan first and foremost but who have enough sense to root for Big Ten teams in non-conference games. I hate Michigan but I choke back these feelings and passively root for them for the sake of the rivalry and the prestige of the conference. I suppose my feelings are akin to those of who hate the Yankees but would much rather see their team beat them in the Playoffs than beat a "flash in the pan" like the Indians. As others have said, it is satisfying to beat a highly-ranked Michigan team to cap the regular season.

It galls me to that tOSU must face former Ohio HS players who CHOSE UM over tOSU, e.g. Woodson, etc. and unfortunately lose to them. With regard to Notre Dame, I doubt I will ever hate them more than Michigan. They've been a joke for a very long time and I hope for another misstep soon.

I'll bet by the time that BCS-ND agreement that the average bowl take for B10 conference teams will equal or exceed the 4.5 million Notre Dame will still get for an appearance.

I would also guess that ND getting the money helps out CFB as well in this manner. Look at the past 10 years when ND was pretty lousey. All the sudden ND is a national title contender last year and it drives fan interest across the board not only from ND fans but the ND backlash as well. I think what the BCS realizes is that a healthy ND football program is more money for everyone.

I figure there's plenty of hate to go around, more than enough for both of them. :wink2:

Notre Dame, and it's not even close. I hate everything about Notre Dame: the institution, the administration, their alumni, their students.....just the very soul of that soulless place. May it and them all burn in hell together.

Outside of the football rivalry, I respect Michigan and have really never had any bad encounters with UM alumni outside of a few Native New Yorkers who were going through life with a chip on their shoulder due to being rejected by the schools they really wanted to attend.

In a good season the Bucks have a shot at beating Michigan. In a great season they'll have shot at doing it twice.

It's a very rare season that the Bucks can beat Notre Dame.

If you think an unbeaten OSU would get into the NC playoffs over an unbeaten Notre Dame you are tragically ignorant of the power of the media.

I'll leave it to Jim Tressel's words posted on the bottom of all my posts as to how I feel.

If you find yourself reading this thread and choosing ND, you can turn your OSU fan card in on your way out.

I dare anyone to question my love of OSU to my face. I loath ND more than life itself. If that entire campus would explode, the world would be better for it. I hate scUM, but i respect them for being in our conference and for helping OSU carry the conference for decades. ND is an overblown, piece of shit college. This comes from someone who grew up in the 90's.:oh:
