Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (official thread)

I would not be surprised to see NC score 14+ points, which means Hawaii would have to score more than 73 to cover. I myself would take NC and the 59.5 points...

Along that line, Louisville only scored 73 last night, and I'm sorry but Hawaii is not Louisville. They have the offense, talent and coach, but I'm not sure the defense can shut them completely down. However if NC players don't recover from the jet lag of the long flight maybe they'll be ok.

The kicker with Northern Colorado is that they're a relative newcomer to IAA. They moved up from DII only a couple of years ago. June Jones also might leave Colt far deeper into the game than Kragthorpe did with Brohm.

Irrelevent here. Hawaii's defense has usually been suspect. I would not be surprised if NC puts a couple TDs on the board...

Hawaii folks will June run up the score?

Interesting question. In the past, JJ has shown no hesitation to score as much as he can, and allow guys to run up individual stats. However, I believe that he risks a backlash from voters, both poll-wise and Heisman, if he really hangs it on UNC. Nobody likes a bully. So, if it gets really ugly, the feel good stories of the reformation of Brennan, will be replaced by the "was it really necessary to pound a lesser opponent" line. Once again, JJ and the Warriors have been placed in this spot by the failure of the athletic director to put together a marketable schedule. Yes, Michigan State cancelled, but a good A.D. should be able to network and put something together. He publically stated that a solid schedule would be put together, and it didn't happen. One more note, UH has lost home openers against the likes of Portland State and Florida Atlantic under Jones. Now, I think this UH team, and the program overall, is a helluva lot stronger than in the past, but you still have to play the game. Not sure if I've ever heard of a 59.5 spread before.

Northern Colorado was 1-10 last year and in last years Sagarin ranks they were behind several 1-AA non-scholarship schools. The coaches and media in the Big Sky picked them to finish last this season. We're not talking about a good I-AA like Youngstown State but a school that might not beat I-AA non scholarship programs.

Cotl Brennan traded in the dreadlocks he sported this summer for a platinum blonde hairdo with the Hawaiian Islands dyed on the side of his head.

HONOLULU (AP) -- Hawaii has always been in Colt Brennan's heart. Now the islands are on his head.

Brennan, who sported dreadlocks this summer to bond with his braided receivers, is now platinum blonde with the Hawaiian Islands dyed in black on the right side of his head.

The star quarterback, who passed on the NFL to return for his senior season, first sported his new hairdo at practice Thursday. A photo of Brennan appeared on the front page of The Honolulu Advertiser with the headline: "Colt Shows Hawaii Pride."

Cont'd ...

edit - d'Oh! - OWUBuckeye51 had posted this already. I'll leave mine here because it shows the picture.

Hawaii is up 21-0, with 7:48 left in the first. Brennan is 12-14, for close to 150 yards, and 3 TD's. Ugly is a kind word to describe this. UNC just pulled their QB, as well. A 59.5 spread is not out of the question.

And, in the time it took me to post the above, UH scores again, 28-0.

Disagree. See USC and ESPiN years past.

I think he also has no choice, if you're HU and you wanna make a serious run, you better be wiping everyone you play off the face of the earth. Plus, if he wants to coach a heisman winner, in order to get the respect his numbers need to be head and shoulders above, say, a john david booty.
