personally i say forget it about the song. play whatever you like. it is your thing.

however it could turn off some more older uptight types though for sure. i guess it comes down to do you want to be true to your tastes and play your stuff or are you making the video for older uptight college coach types.

always remember your intended audience.

Thanx for the pointers VG, I will remember to tell my bro that when he makes next years Highlight film for Marvin.
But for anyone who is intersted Marvin is working out very hard this offseason because he wants to make a statement this year as hopefully and most likely the starter, he was pretty dissapointed with this season because he was on a team that went 9-1 and missed the playoffs dropping the only loss of the season in a heart breaker to Brookhaven who won the D-II State Title, and many felt that if Beechcroft had got in that they would have brought another title home to the city being that the are in D-III, but Beechcroft is returning a talented team that could do maybe better than last years team.
He told me that he was almost convinced to transfer to Brookhaven but I think that he will stay put.

Well, if he posts it here, it becomes "our" thing. Also, I just because folks don't get into lyrics like "Yo, yo, yo, I shoots yo' ****in' a**, N*****!", doesn't make them uptight. Personally, I've heard everything you can think of, and none of it bothers me personally, but the background "toonz" he has in that clip is totally inappropriate for what his intentions are.

He's not forcing you to listen to anything Hab. Don't click on it, or turn down the volume. Maybe he is just showing his skills and that is his soundtrack. Not everybody listens to Journey and Amy Grant. Obviously he is worried about what people think about his football skills not his ear for the classics. This is a non-issue, just something to gripe about.

I dont think Hab is saying he is being forced to listen to them.
But the coaching staffs are forced to listen to them,
and do you really think Coach Tressel enjoys that kind of music?

Unfortunately, perception is considered reality in this society...

I would never send out a film of any of my players with music...the roars of the crowd are usually enough. However, I've met very few coaches who actually watch film with the sound anyway...

Why even take the chance that judgment will be placed on a kid because of a music choice?

Who says coach Tres doesn't have a little gangster rap in his c.d. player? He did coach at y-town! All kidding aside, I see your point, and the stigma of being a gangsta may not be what you want put upon your chances of a schollie versus a non-gangsta in a close race for that last spot on the roster. I submit my apologies to hab for jumping the gun on this issue.

Fuck off, clown. I know more about Motown and real R&B than your "niggah"-wannabe punk ass will ever know. Know-what-ahm-sayin', beyatch? As for "not forcing you to listen to anything", well yeah he is, when he puts it on a highlight video without any preface to let folks know that there are some potentially offensive, and totally unrelated and inappropriate, lyrics on the clip. By the way, I don't listen to Amy Grant, but I do like Journey.

So, anyone who doesn't think that it's OK to put racial-slur laden, obscenity-filled "music" as background for a young high school kid's football clip is "narrow-minded". Riiight. :roll1:
