Oregon shot themselves in the foot when the took out Dixon in the first half after leading the team on a TD drive to put Leaf in. WTH were they thinking  Killed all of the momentum that they had.

I was at Buffalo Wild Wings for the guy with some OU friends. It was crazy the entire time, and once Ingram had the INT all I heard was Boomer Sooner. Then one guy came up to me and wanted to give me a high five sevearl times and each time I said no. He was saying stuff like I root for OSU and I all was thinking was bull crap you do. I was wearing my Oklahoma St. hat. and pointed out to him. He still wanted to give me a high five and never let go of it even when I left the place.

Two greatest boneheaded moments of the game and maybe the season:

* AP celebrating after a long gain, getting up and hitting his head on a lineman. Got a nice shiner on his head and seeing his bandage on his forehead. (I don't know exactly where, couldn't hear) Then seeing the ATC having to keep his arms up just so AP would stay on his feet.
* Bomar spiking the ball at the end of the game and getting a personal foul penalty. could of cost them the game.

I'm just glad that the Ducks can't bitch about getting shut out of the BCS anymore. BCS teams don't lose to a 4 loss Oklahoma. Much like Lloyd can't bitch about not getting to play in a New Years bowl game when he can't even beat Nebraska. How does he think they would have done against a fast pass happy team like Florida?

After watching about a week of bowl games I cannot believe all these teams that cannot just finish a game, I see teams up 27(BC) that instead of just pounding the ball and running the clock they try and throw it, and they should of lost, but BSU couldnt finish either as they had a golden oppurtunity. Same with scUM last nite. They fumble the ball and throw ints instead of just pounding it and running the clock. Who cares if you arent getting first downs you are wasting the clock and then making the other team go a longer distance to score.
Excellent observation. File this one away for the next time everyone complains after a narrow Ohio State loss to a better team that we need to fire Tressel, Bowman, and the rest of the staff and hire some schmoe like Mike Leach or Urban Meyer to install some stupid gimmick of a system where we chuck it all over the field and run razzle-dazzle plays when we dismantle such juggernauts as Pitt on national TV. :roll2:

As team-after-team chokes away a fourth quarter lead to an inferior opponent in a nationally televised bowl, we'll all just have to settle for watching our slow, boring, shitty-ass offense plod it's way through its third Fiesta Bowl in four years.

Observations
  • Oklahoma is likely the best of the unranked teams in the nation. Their 7-4 record belies their current strength. They played like their 2nd half of season record promised. Lots of frosh getting playing time on that squad - look out next year.
  • Oklahoma played with fire in their belly most of the game, particularly in the 2nd half when Peterson amped them up with gutty running - game-ball to the man with new stitches as a game souvenir. (Yes, despite the stretch / fumble).
  • Kudos to Stoops for taking Bomar's head off on the sideline after the OU QB's boneheaded spiking of the ball - take a knee son, take a knee!
  • To the Oregon Head Coach (and scUM's and Georgia Tech's). Leather bound editions of "The Power of Positive Thinking," complete with a gilded bookmark card in their respective school colors. Motto on the bookmark reads, "I will NOT De-Motivate My Team." Think of it, these coaches publicly engaged, to a greater or lesser extent, in griping about the "poor bowl choice" accorded their schools. In my book that means they conducted themselves in a manner that they would NOT allow any of their players to do. One of the prime requirements of your job is to get the kids up for a game. Perhaps we can now collectively acknowledge that griping about your lot in the bowl game is poison to a team's collective psyche - whether you are a coach or a player. Fact is it doesn't do a damned bit of good, those choices are made out of your hands. Fact is petitioning for a better bowl need not be done in a fashion that leaves little doubt in the public mind, and certainly in your locker room that you would rather be somewhere else.
  • A big thumbs down to - The Rotating QB system. Oregon had a 7-3 lead and pulls the fella who was under center when they got there - in favor of their 3rd string back-up? Playing a completely different style (pocket passer instead of option)? When it was clear the Sooner D was going to love having a statue to use as tackling dummy? (And it is rumored that Mike Belotti is a genius on the Offensive side of the ball - go figure).
  • To the officials - get a life, I mean really get a life. They called a pretty tight game for almost 60 minutes, that was refreshing after the Alamo debacle. Then, near the end they throw in unsportsmanlike penalties for excessive celebration. Its one thing if a player taunts, its another if they are simply jumping up and down for JOY.

Lets also not foget Cal who tryed to hand that game to BYU, Memphis who bascially quit up 17 with 4 minutes left. They are lucky that they called the guy offsides when he swiped in and took the snap.

I hope today if filled with teams that know how to close games. All these games remind me of the way Minny always finishes games, like the one against scUM 2 years ago and Wisky this year. O wait they play today. HOpefully they can represent.

I just want to take a moment and say that Orgeon deserved this loss after acting like babies for not making it to the BCS...

Maybe now their fans will realize that having 9 different uniforms and money from Phil Knight doesn't mean you deserve a BCS bowl bid

This is California all over again. Cry because you didnt get it, follow it up with a loss. This just shows how weak the "Wack 10" is. They have been riding off of USC all season long and when it comes time for individual performances, Arizona St. gets scared by Rutgers ( RUT-GERS!!!) while Oregon gets their pride cut in half by the Sooners.

Oh well, at least the Ducks have something to look forward to - they are implimenting chrome into their uniforms next year, along with 3 new helmets! lol.

You know what? I don't want to start shit with felow Buckeyes but enough is enough. I'm a big Oregon fan too and I'm sick of hearing how we whined and were babies. Put yourself in their position. What if it was Ohio St. that played in a fairly weak conference but had the better record than some team that played in a tougher conference and they got the bid over us? You would be pissed because you don't want to see your team left out. It's pretty fucked up a barely ranked 4-loss(all to unranked teams) team can get a bid when a 1-loss(to the #1 ranked team) gets left out. Just tone it down with the insults please. Oregon is still a good team that had a great season.

Agreed. Oregon certainly had a valid complaint. Not with OSU and Notre Dame being selected ahead of them, but with the BCS overall. Oregon deserved to be there over FSU certainly, arguably over WVU, and maybe even over Georgia.

However, Oregon, just like every other BCS school, agreed to the selection criteria, so they should live with the results quietly or complain about the system constantly, not just when it screws them.

You don't hear FSU fans complaining about the BCS, but if their situation was swapped with Oregon's they would be crying like Dick Vermeil at a press conference.

Is the BCS a screwy system? Hell yes it is, but complaining only when it has a direct consequence on one's school is always going to come across as whining, regardless of the validity.

p.s. This wasn't directed at you, BuckeyeKid, nor at Oregon, but at any school whose fanbase/coaches have ever complained about the system.

Thanks for the input. For God sakes, make a freakin' playoff! Kirk Herbstreit has been a real dumbass lately and another example is him not wanting a playoff. What do we want? A playoff! When do we want it? Now!
