How did you celebrate after the 2002 NC?

Damn Misanthrope. I can't imagine the roller coaster of emotions. I'm so sorry. Lesser men would have crumbled.

The season was very therapeutic for me. My youngest daughter (Emily) was a twin born in June of 2002. Since I said "was", obviously her sister (Megan) didn't make it. We buried her in July and football started in August. It was my escape. For a few hours every Saturday, I wasn't crying. I was too engrossed in each close call and nailbiter JT put us through.

Thanks for the sentiments, guys. I just hope no one misinterprets my post as a cry for sympathy. We all experience personal tragedies in life. It just so happened mine occurred during the magical NC run, so I wrote about it.

I'll be forever grateful to all of the 2002 Buckeyes (even the star RB who turned out to be a disappointment), for providing an element of joy in my life at a time when I really, really needed it. Football isn't life, but when times are tough, anything that puts a smile on your face is cause for appreciation.

We may never see another season like that one as long as we live. Then again, the prospects for this season ain't too shabby.

GO BUCKS! :osu4:

I didn't take it as a cry for sympathy, and mine wasn't meant that way either. (although thanks for rep boosts) I was stating how important that season truly was for me. The stresses of the season had me puking every couple fo weeks. Illinois, Purdue, cincy, Miami...

I literally could not celebrate the Illinois win because when Anderson batted down that pass, I ran outside and threw up.

I was in shock!!! I sat in my chair with a smile on my face for 20 minutes and didn't say a thing. I was soaking the trophy presentation up like a sponge. I called my brother in Orlando and we talked about it for a couple of hours. I don't drink alcohol...that night was an exception.

I got off of work, got really drunk, watched the tape of the final stand several times, and wept tears of joy as my girlfriend watched on confused because she didn't understand the religion that is Buckeye football. I still have the tape ( and now the game on DVD), and she is long gone.

If she didn't understand, you didn't need her.

I had just graduated from college a couple weeks earlier and I knew that this game would be one of my last great experiences in college. I lived with 5 other guys and we had stadium seating set up in our house for the entire football season. I had a 55 inch TV so we had one couch on the floor, one behind that about 2 feet off the ground, and one behind that about 4 feet off the ground. We ended up packing about 15 people into the house for the game. Before the game even started I had knocked back about 5 Bacardi and Cokes, so I was quite loud throughout the entire game. When Grant pulled down Dorsey for the victory me and another friend went sprinting and screaming out the back door. The entire complex erupted as people started doing the same. I kind of remember running across the street into someone's house I did'nt know and giving three hot girls high fives and hugs. They probably thought I was a bit strange, but I could'nt help it. It was a feeling of joy and pride that I had never felt before. I still watch the DVD about once every month or so. I love OSU football so much, and can't wait for the season to start.

Welcome aboard Ginn and Tonic! and I agree OSU football is not only important to the players but to every person who's a fan of them as well. Theres nothing like being able to totally connect with a team and see'n them win the National Championship. I to cannot WAIT to see the season start not only to see the buckeyes but to tailgate, go to games, the fall seasons, crisp weather, and most of all game day with kirk/lee/brad at 10:30 on a saturday morning! Football season in general is what its all about, and Ohio State football in particular.Almost here guys! and keep the stories coming.

This is the best thread ever.

I watched it at home with my family, and my daughter (5 years old at the time) kept complaining about my yelling whenever we made a good play. My neighbor down the street had some bottle rockets and other fireworks and he set them off every time we scored a touchdown. After the last play, I screamed like mad, ran outside and screamed, listened as my neighbor set off the rest of his fireworks, then settled down to watch all of the post-game. Of course, the coverage went on for hours. I was watching the local "Buckeye Football Fever" show and I saw Demetrius Stanley lighting up a cigar, and I thought "what am I waiting for?" I went to my humidor and grabbed a Sinatra "My Way" torpedo and smoked it in the garage. It was a sweet celebration.

I kept watching the post-game on ESPN as they repeated it over and over again until about 4:00 AM and then I went to bed to get about 2 hours sleep before coming into work. And of course, at work I spent most of the day celebrating with co-workers and talking about the game so we didn't do a lot of work. I also debated the "controversial" call with a Notre Dame fan at work. It was a great day to be a Buckeye.

I watched the NC game from the BW3's in Westlake. Many wings, many beers, many jaegerbombs. Lost the voice.

Next day, I recovered by a big greasy breakfast, and watching highlights on ESPNews all day long. What a great day.

Tminus 50 days. Can't come fast enough.
