I believe they refer to that as "Steubenville-style." There was an article in the Dispatch quite a while ago about a new pizza-place opening in Columbus that prepared it like that.

Oh man DiMarco's - I remember that. Good going down but it would argue with me for hours afterwards, something about the sauce I reckon.

Round about Columbus it's got to be Massey's

Now that's enough Pepperoni !!

Number one rule for me is thin-crust (when in Da Burg, Western PA ask for NY style - elsewhere in the country just say thin crust and all - except Pizza Hut - know what to do).

I am also a fan of these Mediteranean style pizzas ... buy them by the slice round St. Tropez. Anchovies and Olives are the dominant toppings.

Golfer - how can you agree that pizza chains are bad, and then say Donatoes is one of the best pizzas out there? I repeat, eck. Not only does Donatoes not compare to any good local pizza shop, it's one of the worst of the chains. Their ridiculous cracker thin crust and disgusting greasy vegetables...seriously, how do you turn vegetables greasy? Eck.

If you like Eagle Pizza, you would really like Little Sicily's. They are very similar, but I give the edge to Little Sicily's. Their sausage is a bit spicier, and the herbs they add make the difference.

edit - here, Little Sicily's is where Brice is located on this map:

The only thing I agreed with is that pizza chains are normally inconsistent, not that they are bad. One example is Dominos. I have had great along with shitty Dominos. I believe Donatos is one of the most consistent chains out there.

That being said, I do like the Eagles Villa Pizza better along with many local stops. As for chains, I still have yet to find one to top the flavor of Donatos.

Fair enough. I also find DonatoEs to be remarkably consistent...although disgustingly so. That pizza does shit to my insides that just isn't right. I'm glad to see you like the local shops better...I think almost any "unique" pie is going to be better than most chains.

So far, pizza in Indianapolis sucks. All they have is chain pizza, which is inconsistent at best. I have found one place that isn't too bad that is a chicago style.

Grand Rapids, MI (I know, I know) has some great local pizza places. Vitales is tops in my book. Buckinmich has one thing going for him there.

Meat, meat, meat....oh yeah and cheese.....and sauce and thicker crust....and that is all I need.

No prob...thanks for your understanding. Local establishments have the potential of being much better than chains, but as for chains I feel Donatos is one of the best.
