How does work make you feel today?

Man, this entire school year has been a shit show with all this pandemic and COVID protocol crap all year long in the schools. Giving parents the option to have their kids online or in-person at my school on any given day has really made this year a nightmare for planning. Just want to get back to doing things we used to and doing my regular job next fall.

Hope all is well Buckeye Nation!!!!

my wife has been in the same boat. It’s been a real shit show this year. She’s thinking about throwing up the deuces and heading off to greener pastures.

I don't care that you're calculating your scores and they don't match ours that we're giving you, we're the department that does your surveys, let us do the job of reporting scores from your already positively biased surveys. Oh, and we told you we weren't picking up the physical forms anymore when we switched to the new process due to COVID...6 months ago, quit bitching about them not getting picked up as fast as you'd like.

Sometimes I wonder what they think they're going to achieve, because our numbers are right (as long as they're doing what we've asked them to do and give us everything), we've been through this song and dance before.

27 hours in and it’s only Tuesday… and it feels great. Not joking, just putting a big push on some stuff with tight timelines. Every day over the last two weeks has ended with a pretty big sense of accomplishment. I’m lucky to have the team I have and in particular one of my newer employees (who is pretty young but super talented) along for the ride. It’s a joy to have young bright people who are eager to learn, enjoy and thrive in crunch time.

That said, I am looking at another return trip to Mexico in three weeks… so there is that too.

A couple of weeks a go an employee and a manager got into a scuffle over the employee not wanting to do his job. he was sent home and showed back up with his homies and a gun. Police were called but no one was arrested. The kid still has his job and the manager quit after being written up for failing to have control of the store. No the kid just walks around and does whatever he wants and no one says anything, for fear of being shot. Clown world

Had a fairly major reorg announcement yesterday. Yes… on April 1. LOL.

Don’t really anticipate much change for me and my team. Boss man is taking a 6-month medical leave and my group (and one of my peer’s) are just reporting to his boss for the time being.

But still, April 1st reorg? That’s a joke in and of itself.

Had a dev (remote) send me a message on Teams today asking why Windows Hello became unavailable on his SurfaceBook after he upgraded to Windows 11.

I explained we do not presently support Windows 11 since >75% of the company desktops are pre-eighth-generation Intels that cannot run it, and since the Win 11 ADMX templates are not backwards compatible with Windows 10, we're not running two policy stores to support the few newer laptops capable of the upgrade. In short, I cannot manage the policy because I cannot install the ADMX templates that would allow me to do it, so the company's stance is we are not supporting Windows 11 at this time.

His response: "But can you turn on Hello on our Windows 11 machines?"

I hate my fucking job and am ready to go full mid-life crisis Kevin Spacey in American Beauty and just take a job working the drive thru window at Wendys or some shit.

January 1st 2023-Management announces we no longer need to provide a doctor's note for using our sick days, and they could be used for mental health days.

June 9th-We have an end of the year wrap up meeting. At the meeting, we were told that despite this being an end of year meeting we were expected to come to work June 12th and 13th. At the end of the meeting I informed my boss that I would be taking off Monday and Tuesday for my own mental health. For some reason, they seemed surprised that I was taking off for two days that were completely unnecessary to have us there.
