It's easy enough to remedy (If they insist on keeping the BCS) Implement the rule they should have put in place in 2001... and if not then, 2003. If you're not a conference champion, you're not playing for the Crystal. End of discussion.
Hey, another rule Notre Dame doesn't have to play by! :tongue2:

well, that would eliminate Notre Dame. :wink2:

They'll vote in Florida

which will not be a good game, they can't run the ball without gimmicks and their offensive line isn't that good, so Leak will make mistakes because of our pass rush. Their D likes to play a lot of cover 2 which will be brutal because we'll see a repeat of the Michigan game, a lot of quick passes to negate the pass rush.

Honestly I see a 38-14 game. They simply don't have the offense to hang with us.

Blake Mitchell of South Carolina went surgical on the Gators: 24-34, 275 yards to nine different receivers. The guys at the best Florida-based site on the net, EDSBS, were on record over a month ago saying they did not want to play Ohio State, because Troy would make Mitchell's work look amateur by comparison.

This is an interesting poll topic.

I am not in favor of a rematch for reasons stated ad nauseum by numerous people. (Ironically, HailToMichigan seems to have put it best in a post taking issue with my own reasons. Whatever.)

BUT, I would have to vote Michigan #2. The poll is all about who you believe is #1, #2, etc...; not about what match-up you want to create.

It is the system that is creating the match-up. Change the system if you must, but the integrity of the poll should be maintained.

The main reason that I would vote Michigan #2 is because of the "eyeball test". It should be acknowledged that it is a subjective comparison at its core, and therefore the "eyeball test" is the best gauge. I love stats as much as anyone, but in making vBets I use eyeballs, not stats. I do so because my eyeballs are much better than DSA or any other measure at determining what is going to happen.

I find it very telling that in Gary Danielson's sucking up to his network's core audience he said "Throw out the eyeball test". He never said why you should throw it out. I'll tell you why. Because it is the best tool to use, and it doesn't favor his argument.

Good segue from DBB's post to this one by Brian over at MGoBlog. This isn't whiney enough to post in 21's biggest whiner thread, so I'll copy it here instead.

Has The World Gone Crazy?
I understand that expecting sports talking heads to make a damn bit of sense is futile, but good God... I can't watch or read anything without feeling an intense desire to choke whoever wrote/said it.

If you say any of the following things, you are wrong and should be shamed.

Michigan didn't win its conference.
If this was going to be changed it would have been changed after the Nebraska fiasco. It wasn't, even though the BCS was fully aware it was a possibility. The system is about the two best teams, and this year every indication is that they come from the same conference.

Michigan had its chance.
AOK SWELL. If we change the location of the MNC game to Columbus, Ohio, and play on crappy turf that OSU is used to but Florida is not, I can see this argument working. I doubt that's going to happen. This is also ignoring what the BCS is about: the two best teams. There is no "they had their chance" clause.

Florida played a harder schedule. Says who? The only team with anything resembling a pulse on the nonconference schedule was Florida State, and that's a mighty generous definition of the word "pulse." Then we're getting into the SEC, which has pretty records because of the Sun Belt World tour and excessive media hype. Objective measures of these things have Michigan slightly behind or slightly ahead. In any case, the gap is razor thin, close enough that the relative performances of the two teams against their nearly identical schedules should be the deciding factor.

Michigan has been idle for two weeks.
Yes, I have actually seen this. Personally, I think Florida should go to the Alamo Bowl because it had bye weeks early in the season instead of Michigan's incredible twelve straight weeks. The idea that Michigan has an unviolable right to the #2 spot because they "didn't get worse" -- as advanced by Doug Flutie -- is wrong, since Florida's accomplishments since

Do you notice what Florida backers never talk about?

Michigan and Florida. They make it about whether Alabama is better than Indiana. Whether Penn State is better than Georgia. The historical fluke that the #1 team happens to be in Michigan's conference. While I'm not in favor of Vegas-style rankings because they discard what actually, you know, happened, in this case we have two teams having played comparable schedules and with comparable records. Style points don't matter, but substance points do. South Carolina may be a hair better than Iowa, but Michigan's game against Iowa -- though close-ish in the second half -- did not come down to a blocked extra point and two blocked field goals. Michigan dominated Vandy; Florida was outgained by them and won by 6. Florida limped past Georgia and Florida State; though the scores were superficially similar in the Penn State and Minnesota games, Michigan was never really threatened, unless you consider a petrified third-string quarterback with 80 yards to go when his team has racked up a total of 150 a "threat."

The foes were comparable. Michigan has ruthlessly executed them; Florida has scraped by on a wing and a prayer. With accomplishments relatively equal, we can look to Vegas.

Vegas says Michigan by six.

I also would vote TSUN #2, it is where I had them last week prior to USC-ND, prior to this weeks USC-UCLA derby, prior to Florida -Arkansas.

They still would rate a #2 based on their total body of work, and I will be putting them in that slot in the highly subjective non-BCS BP Poll ballot.

That said, no rematch. Don't want it - but in good conscience that is where I feel TSUN belongs.

I don't know Dryden, I think that was worthy of the whiner thread.:wink2:

Moot point now, but I would have gone with UF. scUM had their shot, and we even basically gave them a free quarter to win the game but they still couldn't get it done. THERE ARE NO MULLIGANS IN CFB. As has been said before, how would it be fair to make us have to beet scUM again? They had their shot and failed. To be honest, I'm not in the "scUM is clearly the #2 team" line. I watched several of their games this year, and aside from a very good front seven, I was pretty underwhelmed. That "stellar defense" also stumbled a bit against Ball friggin' St. Just because you lose a close game does not make you worthy of another chance. Go beat the hell outta USC in the Rose Bowl (which I'm not sold on them doing either, sorry but LLLLLoyd's track record in big games is to be kind...subpar) and bring on the Gators.
