I'm Optimistic...Still

I just don't buy that.
There has been no reason for our dominance to end.
We have better recruiting. We should have better staff.
There is no way scUM survives first round of playoffs. With or without Corum.
They are not on our level. It's very Cooper-esque.
Day has 1 more chance, and really... he needs to win 3 in a row now to get back on track. I'm not sure he has it in him. I'm not sure his recruits and staff hires have it in them.
We've been very very fortunate with this run in the last 20 years. To rarely see 2 or 3 loss seasons.
But ill say this. You can lose 2-3 games a year here, so long as:
1. You always beat that team
2. You win Indy at least once in 3 years (usually goes hand-in-hand with 1, since the West is weakest link)

You could even lose 4 in a down year, if you can beat scUM.
But you cannot go 11-1 if that 1 is them, and especially if it keeps you out of Indy.
I think Michigan is going to beat whoever they play in the first round (might even be us). Also Georgia is not what they were last year and IMO Michigan could very well beat them too.

No idea how they're good to be honest but they are. I think they're the most complete team this year and they have what it takes to win it all (good LOS, good run game, good defense, and rarely turn the ball over).

We have a special teams coach right? I know his name has come up before. Parker Fleming, right. Seems like something he should be handling, no?
For situations like this, I think the head coach should be telling the special teams coach what should or shouldn’t happen. The special teams coach isn’t making the decision for an on-side kick, or whether the kick should be squibbed because there are only a few seconds left.

I just dont see it.
I dont see anyone else in the top3 giving up those awful plays on D, or getting bullied on O.
Corum will get his points, but they don't score 45 on anyone else.
And i fully expect the next month of accolades and scUM behavior to go to their heads. Their team is not better than last year, when they got blown out.
Georgia, USC, Bama aren't going to be scared and choke like a Cooper team.

I think USC and TCU probably lose to SCUM but UGA demolishes them. The secret is out on how you beat SCUM and, not only is UGA's secondary better than Illinois and OSU's, but they're better up front as well. The only question is if UGA can score enough. My guess is yes.

Yes, having lived through the Cooper debacle and now seeing I wholeheartedly agree.

What bothers me even more, and you can hear it in the Michigan players comments, is this team QUIT yesterday. No reason to sugar coat it. That to me is a huge indictment on the staff. Woody was rolling in his grave watching that debacle, I’m sure.

I’m not from Missouri, but the only optimism I will have is when Day proves it on the field.
they seemed to quit long long before they (and whoever else was around) allowed the TSUN flag to get planted into the heart of the block O at midfield.

lose. lose badly. cover your face. droop your head. whatever. get all eye-rolling and bothered about hanging in for the entire duration of carmen ohio. whatever.

don't let those pricks plant their flag at midfield.

that is utterly nauseating (and also telling) to me. nothing in that to be optimistic about.

If TCU gets rolled is that the end of the Big 12 getting a spot in the top 4 just for being undefeated? I'd say a 1 loss Big 10 or SEC team would be more deserving unless the Big 12 team won a couple big OOC games. Make them play OOC like a MAC school.

i lost count of how many time the name "cooper" has been conjured up on this thread, let alone on the rest of the forum and other social media since saturday.

that's not trending to optimistic. and it sends the heebie jeebies through me me every time i see it when we talk about this team, its performances in the last two editions of the game, and the team's head coach.

i got a sinking feeling in my gut when day was talking about pushing back the day of senior tackle on the buckeye roundtable podcast when coop, not even letting day finish his explanation, jumped in and said, "couldn't agree more...".

It probably should be. For all the shit the Pac-12 gets, they've at least won a CFP game and handled themselves pretty well. Oregon beat FSU's ass before admittedly getting boat raced by the Buckeyes while Washington hung tough with an absolutely loaded Bama squad. Every Big 12 playoff game has been a laugher outside of OU-UGA a few years back.

Yep. Henderson and Hayden will be back, maybe Williams too. JSN is gone (I still feel he unofficially opted out this year), but Harrison, Fleming and Ebukva are all back. Can McCord be the man? The one game he started when CJ was hurt he threw for over 300 yds. I think that was against a MAC team, but still

I wouldn't assume Hayden is going to be back.

Per the OSU website

Miyan is in his third year with the program and has four seasons of eligibility remaining (!)

Henderson has 1 year left

Hayden was a freshman

At WR:

Harrison will be back
Egbuka will be back
Fleming can come back (This was his 3rd year)
Smith-Njigba is gone.

Yeah I just don't see it. UGA won't test them in the passing game and that's the one team they probably want to play after last year too.

I think they're going to win it all. I don't get how we aren't giving them credit.

This whole "they're built to beat Ohio State but not the SEC" Is stupid. They're built like a good football team.

Good up front on both sides, Dynamic run game, and a smart team.

TCU won't stop ttun physically and USC will have no answer for their run game...

Maybe Georgia but then again I think Michigan has a bone to pick with them after last year.

To be honest. I think the only team between ttun and a title is us.

Sounds stupid I know...but get JSN and Henderson back then roll the dice.

People do seem to forget that Bama beat Georgia 42-24 last year in the SEC championship game. Who is the reigning NC team right now? No saying we 100% deserve to get in, but we will more than an other team but 2 or 3 if USC or TCU stumbles.

Get heathy this team is crazy good.

Out or beat to shit players off the top of my head.. JSN, Henderson, Myian, Tommy, Ransom, Hall, hopefully Hayden or fuck Day, and I know I am missing several more. Those guys are complete Studs. All game changers that either don't play or play at 70% OSU with a 4-5week break would be the most dangerous team in the tournament is it happens. IMO.

Also you make Stroud practice the read option 50xs a day, and show him film where he can get 15yds easily.

Do players being healthy = Day and Knowles pulling their heads out of their rear ends and stop constantly continuing to try to run things that clearly aren't working though?

Star players can make dumb coaches look amazing. We see it all the time. You don't think a healthy Hall doesn't get home before one of those long pass plays? Or that JSN moves the sticks 3 or more times because he is uncoverable in the short game?
