Impending Assistant Coach Vacancies

Someone refresh me... How long has Freeman been a coach & how long has he been DC

I guess my question mark with him and at UCwith Fickell is how much of that D, gameplan, design, play calling is his vs Fickell...

That's perfectly understandable. Not many coaches want to move from a coordinator position back to a positional coach.
In this particular case you could argue it would still be a move up for his career and it would be a lot more money.

It is still understandable; a strong loyalty to Fickell is also a strong factor I’m sure.

Also, if Fickell continues to be successful, they probably both move on to a bigger job within a couple of years, maybe even scUM (perish the thought) or MSU if Dantonio stubbornly clings to his defective offensive staff.

this is my thought as well. Freeman has a lot of loyalty to Fickell. the first call Luke made was to Freeman when he took the UC job. He was at Luke’s intro press conference with him even before the announcement was made.
Marcus is young, bright, energetic, charismatic and has future P5 head cosch written all over him. If he sticks with Luke and continues to have success at UC and say, MSU, his next gig in 4 years will be as a head coach. not sure stepping back to LB coach, even for more money, helps him on that career path in that time frame.

As long as Tobias isn't consulted:

Wouldnt Wilson immediately step into the OL duties since that's his background until we find a suitable replacement?

I still think ST needs someone dedicated to it and of course, we need Safety/Corner help. Otherwise I think the staff looks pretty good right now.

Offense
Day
Yurcich
Wilson
Alford
Hartline
(Studwara) tentative

Defense
Johnson
Mattison
Washington
Hafley
??

Lot of experience on Defensive side and there's some great ideas on that Offensive side. It's odd as all hell to see these names but I like it overall.

So who are the names to watch if Taver is out?
Heard nothing about him but if @wadc45 and myself have to go zip tie Terrell Buckley’s hands and sit him in front of Day, we will do just that!

Imo, Buckley is just as good of a coach as Raymond, just hasn’t exactly proven himself on the recruiting trail. That will happen once he leaves that dump Starkville MS.
