Iowa Hawkeyes (Official Thread of The Under)

The Iowa-Penn State bitchering hasn't ended. I think I counted about 450 threads on BWI about Iowa yesterday. Most were about how happy they were that Iowa lost and they were exposed. One guy came back with "What does that make us? We lost to that terrible team." He has since been labeled an Iowa or Pitt fan.

One guy on BWI said the Iowa board was pretty good. So I went over there, and found this bad boy:

This season was set up perfectly for us to win a National Championship and that is all gone now because we couldn't beat Purdue of all teams.
That's cut from the original post. It's longer. I bring it up because did anyone REALLY believe Iowa was set up to win the national championship? Really? Really really??? I didn't think so.

The very next post:
If we win out (we wont), we will still win the National Championship. We had one free regular season loss and that was it.
To his credit, he doesn't think Iowa will win out. However, even if his hypothetical comes to life, I think we still won't see Iowa in the playoffs. A loss to Purdue in 2018 kept Ohio State out of the playoffs. I think this loss to Purdue will keep a 12-1 Iowa team out of the playoffs. Note that it's likely that it's based on what other teams do, and not just a "Iowa lost to Purdue - stop voting for them" thing. It'll be based on the rest of the top teams.

Well, to be fair, the 1 loss to Purdue won't keep them out. It's the 21+ point ass hammering they will take in prime time from OSU that will do it.

The survey results here are a joke. The correct answer (i.e. every week) is Penn State:

A team with no offense, a defense who relied on turnovers, and a lot of lucky bounces and calls. Iowa was never a top 5 team, and top 10 is probably pushing it. A bad version of Tresselball, at least Tresselball pressured the QB, and had great special teams and had great RBs. Goodsen is above average and they're only offensive weapon. And relying on turnover isn't a way to run a defense.

Yeah, but on the other hand, it leaves the Bucks with a CCG that won’t mean shit. Helps set up a two team SEC playoff.

If Alabama and Georgia each win out, with Alabama beating Georgia in the conference championship game, and if Oklahoma wins out, and Ohio State wins out, and Cincinnati wins out, and it's up to those 5 teams, then, in my boring opinion, it's really down to Cincinnati and Georgia. Georgia may get in, but they shouldn't get in over Ohio State. Of course, the committee may keep Ohio State at #4, drop Georgia from #1 to #3, move Alabama up to #1, and Oklahoma to #2. But I wouldn't say Georgia necessarily got in over Ohio State - that's just the committee's way of setting up an all-SEC championship.

Bottom line: I don't think the opponent in the conference championship opponent will help or hurt Ohio State. More a shame that UC won't get a chance to lose in the first round.
It would be pretty neat to see Ohio State and Cincinnati in the championship game, though. "SEC! SEC! SEC!"

The world will never know if the hypothetical 12-1 Iowa team in 2021 would make it to the playoffs. Because the 2021 Iowa team will have 3 losses at bowl selection time. Maybe 4 or 5. Or 12. Who knows?

Your whore mouth......shut it.

If they make it to the championship game beating UGA or Bama to get there, then that means they would have a legit shot against us. Plus, they'd be a lot fresher than us having spent the last six weeks of the season dancing through cupcake city while we're grinding it out in the B1G East. Do you want to live in a world where there is any chance that they ca beat us for a national championship. The juggalos still get full chubs talking about those basketball games before any of them were alive. Imagine the shitshow if they did it in football.

The UC Basketball wins are the two games that I started with as a fan. Two crushing defeats in the first sporting events I remember as a 7 and 8 year old. Prepared me for becoming a Cub fan when I was 25.

Not to mention how it would complicate recruiting going forward.

I started one year earlier and it set me up for life. But I do recall crying after each of the two games you mentioned.

And by "full chubs" you mean the entire length of their 1.5 inch micro-peens is on full display. Gives new meaning to the term "peacock".
