Iowa @ tOSU, Sat Oct 22, 12pm, FOX

First half could have been worse if not for a bs flag against Dewand on the play Stover made it to the 3 yard line on a reception.
I missed the second half, unfortunately. Judging from the score, I guess Iowa's defense continued to "dominate," lol. It seemed like Klatt was constantly exaggerating how well they were playing. Kept the Hawkeyes in it but wasn't dominant.
Ohio State had like 137 yards in the first half or something.

They ended up with like 386. so nope other then the first 2 series offense was domination in the 2nd half.

Every other team they've played: 59 points

Ohio State: 54 points

I'll leave the rest as an exercise for the reader.

Not sure if this was mentioned. Prior to today, Iowa has give up 59 points in 6 games. Buckeyes almost topped what 6 teams combined put on them. Food for thought.

Way too many number nerds on this board to let that go unmentioned

Ya think Iowa's problems on offense is that Kirk Ferentz has a shitty offensive coordinator?

Iowa football's Kirk Ferentz pressed on offense, QB situation after Ohio State loss: 'We can't score points'

ON IF HE'D CONSIDER A CHANGE AT OC WITH HIS SON, BRIAN FERENTZ:
"I answered that question two weeks ago. I've never done that (making a mid-season change) in my career. I don't plan on (making a change) right now. Our approach is to always address what is out there and see what we can do to improve it. It's been pretty consistent for nearly 24 years now. That's the plan moving forward. It's been fairly successful. ... Nobody does everything perfect. If you've ever been in that situation, you never play perfect. You never coach perfect. I think we have a good offensive staff and good leadership. We're going to keep pushing forward.

No offense but this is a message board?

My short time here so far has been wildly positive. However the last few weeks there's a growing "stfu" element I'm running into when projecting forward.

I have played college ball and I understand x and o stuff... but it's FUN to project forward.

Sorry I'm not all "oh yay!!"... I see flaws and I'm genuinely curious if others see them too. So far I'm getting "dude shut up". So I guess that tells me everyone sees the concerns I have.

The concern being our ability to play physical on offense. Thus far our offense vs good defenses has struggled (21 vs ND and aided by 6 turnovers today).

Your early game "project forward" hot takes in a 44 point blowout of in the most points ever surrendered by a Kirk Ferentz team sure is concerning.
.
Yes yes, everyone else's reactions are telling. Mmkay..

There's a difference between telling you to stfu and pointing out that a couple series doesn't project forward.

Anyway let's not say I didn't point this out

Thats the fun of it man... I'm sure everyone here wonders how that game will play out a few weeks from now? This isn't really any different.

There's always things we can learn though projecting forward.

I think it's clear that the biggest challenges to the team are ahead, not behind, and constantly going over the same stuff after blowout wins looses its appeal quickly.

I've never bought into Day's offense not being physical enough, and the biggest issues with the run game were calling stretch and toss plays with a defense that was never going to turn its head and run with receivers. Those lost 3-4 yards multiple times. It's also clear the RBs and dinged.

Iowa was able to look into the backfield while DBs threw the passing game off by holding WRs. I'd have more of an issue with not having a response after Rutgers did the same thing.

Ohio State scored only one touchdown on its first 10 possessions, ran the ball for only 66 yards on 30 carries and had its second-fewest total yards since Ryan Day became head coach against Iowa.

The Buckeyes still scored more points than any other team had ever scored against Iowa in Kirk Ferentz’s 24-year tenure coaching the Hawkeyes. They scored more than twice as many points as any other team had scored against Iowa this season and only five fewer points than the Hawkeyes allowed in their first six games combined. For betting purposes, Ohio State hit the over by itself in its 54-10 win.
