IVoyd's whining and scUM's low-great article

thats just pathetic. its not like they are playing eastern western southern polly tech state school for the gifted. nebraska (while not the nebraska of old) is a decent team with a very storied tradition. it should be an honor to play them. besides, its not like they were bucking for a bcs trip and missed out. i don't see any shame in the alamo bowl. if im a 7-4 team im damn happy to be getting any bowl and equally about getting another month + a game to get my guys to a point where they won't be 7-4 next year. i guess i just don't understand what loyd is pissy about. i agree with everyone elses assessment. while ill be rooting for the b10 teams, this one has upset written all over it.

We used the Alamo Bowl for a jumpstart to a pretty good season this year, too. History is beset with great teams starting a big run in the previous year's bowl game. Carr should be trying to build his kids up for a strong 2006, but instead is complaining like the whole thing is worthless...the practice, the game, everything.

Screw him, and his crappy, overrated, underachieving, pigheaded wasteland of a team that "doesn't lose 3 games in a season".

this is just great.

i always try to root for scUM in bowl and OOC games, but most of the time i simply become a cynical heckler and shout 'YOU SUCK!' at the TV a lot...

fuck 'em... i'm not a Nebraska fan, but i hope they blow the weasels out...

Didn't read thru the whole thread, so i apologize if this echoes anyone else, but....what jumped out at me....

1. "We get what we deserve," sophomore quarterback Chad Henne said. "We definitely don't want to go down with a loss. Nobody wants to have five losses. I don't know how long it's been since a team here has had five losses and we don't want to be that team."

His 20 year old QB is more mature than the Head Coach.

2."You have the (conference) commissioners, the bowl people, the TV people doing the (bowl) scheduling," Carr said. "I think it's only fair to the players that what happens on the field should dictate where you play. I never thought I would say this, but I think we should go to a playoff and do it on the field. I think that's only fair to the guys that play the game.
"The bowl games have always been a reward for what you do in the season. When you choose teams based on their ability to sell more tickets or fill more hotel rooms, I think that's unacceptable."

Is that a slap-in-the-face to his own fans? Insinuating that they are not as rabid/loyal as Iowa's fans? Or coming to grips that the scUM fans aren't all that interested in spending $ to watch the mediocre team he puts on the field?

3. Pierre Woods said. "Are we disappointed? No. Disappointment is Tennessee. They're not going to a bowl game."

Pierre, maybe that's your problem - you should be disappointed with a 4-loss regular season. I guarantee you Bo's players would be disappointed.

Perhaps...

But my initial reaction to the statement is that he's just stupid and not thinking about the fans at all. I'm not bashing here, I honestly believe that it takes a person of low intelligence to think that HE can tell someone else what to do with their own property.

This isn't about football. This is simple rule-of-law stuff. In a capitalistic society (we're not, but that's another discussion for another thread) you are allowed to do what you want with your property as long as you don't hurt anyone else in the process. The Outback Bowl is the PROPERTY of the people that decide who they invite to it. It is THEIR choice. It is not up to LLLLLLLLLLLLLoyd Carr to tell them what is or is not acceptable to do with THEIR PROPERTY!!!!

I'm sorry to break it down to such an obvious level, but it is at this kindergarten level that he is malfunctioning. Does he think that scUM's coach can tell OTHER people what to do? Is that why he can't rub two neurons together to make a synapse about this?

All this makes you wonder why their recruiting is falling off a bit this year (sarcasm).

carrwreck is most offensive when he works and jerks the sideline refs. That is a capsule of his character.

Compare to JT who is game planning, and, with very few exceptions, accepts the referee decisions and presses on.

Carr is a weasel-schmuck.

One thing I noticed this year - and see if it happens in the bowl game - is that every time scUM gets a delay of game penalty, LLLLoyd screams at the officials that he was calling a T.O. from the sidelines. And it almost always works, too. The refs assume they missed it and they give it to him. I loved it this year in The Game where the ref just looked over at their sideline and shook his head, like, yeah right - nice try, LLLLoyd.

And when he complains, he has to be a third of the way on the field, too. Isn't that a penalty? I know that lots of coaches do that, it's not just Llloyd.
