Jadeveon Clowney (DE Carolina Panthers)

I bet this leads to more significant lockdown on player/fan interaction.

Not sure what happens in Columbus (or Columbia) but UGA has a meet and greet session with all of the players on picture day. Usually alot of fun to bring kids to meet their favorite players and have them pose for pictures.

Lots of autographs are signed and I would imagine if this scandal grows and grows - these sessions are locked down tight.

Braxton Miller was named in this "investigation" as well.

I think it would be naive to think that these guys have signed everything for free. It looks like it may be the sheer volume of Manziel stuff out there, in addition to the brokers talking, that puts Manziel under the spotlight.

Braxton was named as having four items, which tOSU said came from the B1G media days, sold by a seller who sold 19 items by Manziel and 19 by Clowney.

A separate "investigation" turned up the 409 certified Clowney autographs that were consecutively authenticated in two batches, all sold (so far) from one seller.

That is a lot of items sold apparently by one guy signed by one guy. Hey, there could be lots of explanations, who knows. It is just very interesting if they are real and the story is true.

Ohio St has done meet and greets too, but availability has been curbed significantly over the past few years. According to Gene Smith and Braxton Miller virtually everything autographed by Braxton that is available on eBay right now was signed at the B1G Media Day two weeks ago.

Also, Clowney claimed he wouldn't sign more than one autograph for a person, but there are also pictures of him signing consecutive items in a hotel room

There's only one fucking reason you sign 400+ items for one person and signing consecutive items in a hotel room, and it ain't friendship.

From what I read on the shag, this whole thing started with texags trying to put together some form of a database showing that other top college players had signed stuff to the degree that Johnny Hancock did. When their data ended up not matching the desired conclusions, aggy apparently had an inadvertent "data dump" (aggy didn't lose; they just ran out of data) and their whole project fizzled out.

That being said, schools should just stop the autograph sessions entirely. Right now there are 135 Braxton Miller items up for sale on ebay ranging from 50 clams to well over a thousand. Clearly, we live in an age where the average autograph seeker is no longer looking to get something signed for his kid's wall. They're looking to flip shit onto ebay for a quick buck to feed their meth habits.

Maybe have some rule where everything must be personalized (which apparently drives the price way down). It would discourage the memorabilia trade.
