Javon Ringer (Former RB Michigan St.)

According to DDN...

Javon Ringer, the two-time All-Ohio running back from Chaminade-Julienne High School, has been advised not to play football again this season after injuring his knee Friday.
Dr. Steven Kleinhenz told the senior that the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee slipped off the bone during the fourth quarter of a 34-0 defeat of Cincinnati McNicholas. An MRI Saturday showed no ligament tear in the knee, and Ringer will be re-evaluated in three weeks.

"People are talking to me like my season is over," said Ringer, whose father, Eugene, is a pastor at Faith Temple Pentecostal Church of God. "They're saying, 'Next year, next year, next year.' I feel like, with my faith in Jesus, he'll be able to bless me with a miracle."

The week before his injury, Ringer had a career-best game, rushing for 372 yards and five touchdowns against Cincinnati Purcell Marian. He finished Friday's game with 179 yards and has 1,763 yards and 22 touchdowns on the season. It appeared he would easily eclipse 2,000 yards for the third straight season.

"There was no hit at all," C-J coach Jim Place said "His leg just locked up. That was it."

Another C-J senior, Brandon Harrison, has been sharing the backfield with Ringer and will probably do the bulk of the running. Harrison has committed to Notre Dame as a defensive back.

the injury sounds nasty, but the fact their are just "advising" him not to play any more football this year sounds uplifting.
i would think if this was very serious, there would be no question about his playing any more ball.
lets hope its not too bad and he aces those SATs!!!

Javon twisted his knee and will have an MRI on Monday. :(
Any word on his MRI ?? Since there was no ligament tear, that has to be a positive. This kid wants to come to the Buckeyes, he's doing what needs to be done in the classroom (or so people are saying) and he is being patient with OSU's offer . I'd consider that maturity and a true want to be a Buckeye. Can't beat that. I hope he comes to OSU .. he'd be a great Buckeye !!!

Hey Tibs, what is your official diagnosis? Is this a recurring injury or anything to be fearful of?

I'm no doctorb but I did talk to a doctor who stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night. He said that the ACL slipping off the bone is more serious than just tearing an ACL. A screw will have to be inserted, re-attaching the ACL to the bone. With rest and proper rehab he should be able to return to the field eventually with no limitation. It's not something that will make him more susceptible to injury in the future although I'm sure it will be on Javon's mind the first time he has to take the field and gets hit.

Get well soon, Javon!
