I figured that might be the case. I hope everything is on the up and up if you know what I mean. And that's all I've got to say about that.

Anyways, no one can deny execution can plague a struggling offense. But if you don't keep some sort of element of surprise, (meaning keeping defenses in the dark) the best O-lines in the universe will have problems blocking.

Why is it teams like Wisky and scUM can run the same plays from the same formations then? The scheme is fine...hell yes I'd like to see more flavor to it, but if an offense cannot execute the basic plays of football, why would they prosper in something flashier?

Nothing is clicking...counters, playaction, ISOs, sweeps. The execution must improve before the team can even think about trying anything new

I hope Tressel is the OSU coach as long as he's lucid (I have a man crush on him, does anyone else?). But whether we win the rest of our games this year, or we become National Champs again, I'd like JT to EVENTUALLY give the OC duties up. My complaint dates back to 2001 because JT just doesn't establish any type of rythem to the play calling unless it's dire straits (the game situation, not the band). Again, I love the man, but his strong suit is not an offensive mind, rather it's being a head coach. Just my opinion.

Will JT address the zone-blocking and no sled issue during the season or will he wait until after the season? The zone-blocking must go but I'm worried about JT's comment that he is not an expert in o-line coaching and he trusts that the job will get done! Very scary given that JB has only been anywhere for a max of 3 years. Is JT too loyal to JB to assign a new o-line coach with straight ahead, normal blocking schemes after the season. I hope not especially with the good o-line recruits coming in.

I'd still be interested to hear from HelpingHAnd and as to what kind of blocking OSU is using. I know Bollman has different terms he calls his blocking style/scheme. Even Jim Lachey calls is a form of Zone blocking. I know it doesn't look like a traditional zone but that may be because the O-line isn't moving in tandem, which is required for zone blocking or any other form of blocking for that matter. I have also seen it referred to a pro-style. Who knows !!! What I do know is no matter what style it is .. the O-line is not firing off in tandem and sustaining blocks and trying to knock the piss outta their opponents. Thats more important that what its called or the scheme for that matter.

When Petersen was asked to come to Ohio State and help the offensive line, he was pretty excited to get here.

I'm sure you all read the comments he stated and how excited he was to get to work with Bollman. But lately there has been nothing said from him and I guess he is being quiet about the offensive line issues.

Guys, there has to be something very wrong going on down at the W.W.H.C right about now, but we are not able to be a "Fly on the Wall" to hear what is going on.
Saturday night as I watched the game, I did notice that Jim Bollman was not a happy camper in his efforts and there had to be some uncertaintys between him tressel and petersen. I really sensed this and i really think its going to come to a head real soon, if things do not improve in the next couple of weeks.

Even before the Northwestern game i really had a bad feeling about going into this one. I felt that Randy Walker had a leg up on us, all the way. He is no dummy and i beleive he is a very good coach. Also i think that Ohio State simply was out-coached in all phases but still we fought like hell to hang in there and comeback like we did. I give them alot of credit for that. And of course the missed field goal by Nugent just simply broke our heart to say the least. And when that occured, well you could just see it coming and it hit us pretty hard when they scored as easily as they did.

I had a tough time sleeping early sunday morning. I have read every post in this thread and the consensus is that Bollman has to go I guess. One more thing before i leave here that i want to share with you. I was outside the practice facility 3 years ago in Tampa and noticed that Bollman and Tressel came outside to discuss something that obviously they did not want to share with the team. I was in the right place at the wrong time and they noticed I was there and kind of gave me a long look like, "you better leave now pal" so i did but before i did i noticed that they were not real happy with one another. It was sad to see that and ever since i have always had a feeling that Tressel and Bollman are going to have issues about there offensive strategys. Something has to give real soon i fear.

Riddle me this...JT is still starting Lydell, do you think he is going to fire Bollman, one of his best friends???
Me thinks we could be frustrated about this for some time to come.

Fire?

Why even debate a firing? Coach Tressel said that they were not prepared for the NW game. OK, I'll buy that.

I'll wait and see how we prep for a big run stopping D like WIS before jumping into the fire. Check that, ...before watching you guys jump into the fire.

Why are we even talking about firing anyone now... If anything does happen, it won't happen until after the season...

Also- On Dick Tressel... that was a situation where we moved a guy into the position... possibly because the timing of Spencer's departure was such that a 'more desirable' candidate was not available.... Thus, that position might be re-evaluated at a later date.

Man I hope your right kippy, I believe if the non-existent running game continues the press will be all over JT about it and he'll have to address it by getting someone else to take over the o-line responsibilities (even though it wouldn't happen until after the season?) This will be a very difficult year to watch if Bollman doesn't get it turned around real quick. This is freaking Ohio State we are talking about for God's sake! No running game, how much longer can JT let it go on!!!
