Horrible idea for the Colts in my opinion.

1) First off, I know coaching is a close fraternity but does Tressel have the NFL ties to form a quality staff if hired?

2) Have the Colts not seen past history and its results of hiring college coaches?

I love coach Tressel but think the Colts are making a HUGE mistake if they hire him. Basically seems as if they are looking for a white, Tony Dungy.

I guess the 49ers made a huge mistake...

He's your typical homer for the big time teams (Lakers, Patriots, Yankees, USC) and seemingly nobody else matters. If North Carolina was playing Valparaiso in bball, Colin would root for Carolina.

You're a Purdue fan, so I would expect you to hate Cowherd. People hate him because he gives it to you straight. He is right a lot of the time. I don't like everything he has to say, particularly his hard-on for Brady, but he is a smart dude.

Yes, because he knows how to troll everyone to everyone else's pleasure.

Cowherd is blunt but the farthest thing from a straight shooter. He says what works.

Unlike May, Rome or Bayless, he says many things that are on point, but he'll reverse his stance in an instant if it means better ratings. Very smart and very good at trolling.

For the Colts to interview him for a second sounds like they are pretty serious about making him the Man. And I'll bet Dungy would approve for sure.

He's no different than Skip or Jim Rome. He spins facts to suit his arguments. The only difference between him and the other two is that he doesn't try as hard to pretend he's objective.

With decision on Colts' next coach near, pal makes case for Jim Tressel

It appears the Indianapolis Colts' search for a coach will conclude sooner rather than later.

That was the objective of Jim Irsay after he and general manager Ryan Grigson fired Jim Caldwell on Tuesday -- providing the search uncovered "the best man'' -- and that was the message delivered Saturday by the team's owner.

". . . the HC search is wide ranging n thorough, decision by mid 2 late next week,'' Irsay wrote on his Twitter account.

That "wide ranging'' hunt for Caldwell's successor includes former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel. He reportedly met with the Colts for a second time Friday, traveling to Indianapolis from his home in Sarasota, Fla., on Irsay's plane.

Tressel could not be reached for comment, and the Colts are not discussing the process.

However, John Geletka has no problem lobbying on Tressel's behalf.

"A great guy,'' he said. "A great college coach.''
