Jimbo Fisher (ex-HC Texas A&M Aggies)

For an F.S.U. Football Player, a Hit-and-Run Becomes Two Traffic Tickets

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — In the early-morning hours of Oct. 5, as this college town was celebrating another big football victory by Florida State University, a starting cornerback on the team drove his car into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by a teenager returning home from a job at the Olive Garden.

Both cars were totaled. But rather than remain at the scene as the law requires, the football player, P. J. Williams, left his wrecked vehicle in the street and fled into the darkness along with his two passengers, including Ronald Darby, the team’s other starting cornerback.

The Tallahassee police responded to the off-campus accident, eventually reaching out to the Florida State University police and the university’s athletic department.

By the next day, it was as if the hit-and-run had never happened.

I'm surprised they didn't cite the kid for hitting a parked car or something equally bogus.

It's shit like this that creates guys who get to the NFL/NBA, etc and have no concept of right or wrong. "Just let 'em float by and don't cause 'em any hassle....."

They refused to investigate a rape case so I'm not shocked TPD's finest tried to bury a simple hit and run.

A police department in the U.S. actively aiding and abetting criminals because they play football....and giving zero fucks who knows it.

It's fucking scary when you think about it.

Jimbo Fisher: I told ya. We haven't had any players misbehavin'.
Investigator: Okay! But are ya sure? 'Cause I mean, how do you know? Do you do a bed count, or what kind of a routine do you have here?
Jimbo: [growing uncomfortable with this questioning] Sir, I answered your question!
Investigator: [long pause] I'm sorry, sir?
Jimbo: Sir, I answered your question! I answered the darned... I'm cooperatin' here!
Investigator: Sir, you have no call to get snippy with me! I'm just doing my job here.
Jimbo: I'm... I'm not arguing here! I'm cooperating. So there's no need to... we're doin' all we can here.
Investigator: Sir, could I talk to Mr. Barron?
[Jimbo gives him a glassy-eyed look, knowing full well what Jameis, et al did]

Investigator: Coach Fisher?
So who's going to end up feeding who into a wood chipper in a week?

Laugh of the Day comes to us from Jimbo Fisher:

"There is only so much a coach can do to control margin of victory or defeat. Florida State's Jimbo Fisher said he won't go out of his way to tack on an extra touchdown or two if the Seminoles have that opportunity over the last three weeks of the season.

''I'm not going to change the integrity of the way I do things,'' he said. ''I'm hoping to hold the integrity of the game higher than everybody else. If people on the committee can't see that, then that's it. If it's for us to score to win the game or keep control of it, then we'll do that.''

Link:http://www.statesman.com/ap/ap/sports/stylin-margins-matters-in-college-football/nh6jZ/

The obtuse references to integrity aside... seems he was fine running the score up when he could last year. Now that his team isn't good enough to do it, he wants everyone to ignore margin of victory. OK.

And these stories are just the ones we know about ...

Speaking of which...

About a half-hour after the accident, the investigation took an odd turn. Another officer at the scene, Joseph Smith, discovered that the glass front door of a closed Exxon station at the corner of Tharpe and High was shattered, apparently from a break-in, according to his report. The gas station manager was called, and she replayed security camera video for the police showing a man breaking in and walking out with an armload of merchandise.

The video, obtained by The Times, also captured a poor-quality image of the accident. In it, the Buick containing the Florida State football players could be seen attempting the left turn onto High Road, in the direction of the Exxon station, just as the burglar was about to leave and walk toward High Road.

“They happened within seconds of each other,” said Karen Southern, the Exxon manager, adding that the police mentioned the hit-and-run accident to her but not whether they considered any possible connection to the burglary. No evidence has surfaced to link the two, and the break-in remains unsolved.

Nothing to see here.

I like how he got a citation for unknowingly having a suspended license.
It's not that TPD doesn't care... they care, they care so much.
