John Groce (HC Akron Zips)

Yeah, Groce has Illinois heading back to being a perennial Big Ten contender, and being able to make the second weekend of the NCAA tourney for the first time since 2005. Illinois under Groce is going to be a perennial top-25 team, there is a chance they could be there already but it might take them one more year to fully get free of the shackles of Bruce Weber's recruiting. Interesting that there were four strong Big Ten teams last year but really of the four only OSU is putting together a great 2014 class so far, and MSU is in dire need of a big class but Illinois is doing much better in recruiting than them for 2014.

Ha. Well I missed a bit on that one. Groce, like Thad, has recently shown an inability to find the right skill players to win in the B1G.

Interesting that Groce had lined up the top recruiting class in the B1G for next season (according to some sources) but they canned him, anyway. Those same sources are not nearly as impressed with Thad's incoming class.
