I was hoping the Butler job would not open up. I think that is one of the jobs Groce might go after.

Butler has hired someone else.

Butler assistant Stevens takes over for Lickliter

Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS -- Butler hired assistant coach Brad Stevens on Wednesday, two days after Todd Lickliter left to take the job at Iowa.

Butler scheduled a news conference for 1 p.m. Thursday to introduce Stevens, 30, as its new coach.

Whew! I have a feeling, though, that when Groce does eventually leave, it will be for a bigger program than Butler anyway (or rather, since Butler has been very successful in recent years, a bigger conference than the Horizon).

With Donovan staying put at Florida will the 'Cats go after Groce??? :paranoid:

(Yes, I am kidding...)

Since Donavan is staying at Florida, I hope the 'Cats don't go after Matta. Although with the recruits that he has coming in and the support he has from the administration/alumni/fans at Ohio State; I can't see him even thinking about a move.

I heard this morning on Mike and Mike that UK will now go after Barnes from UT.

That is some good news, but there is no doubt in my mind that he will get offered by at least 1 if not more schools...

The question is whether or not he takes them...

Not a whole lot out there that I'm aware of except for maybe some small D1 schools

Give St. Louis ideas

Saint Louis is fortunate still to have an excellent group of candidates available if it looks in the right places: Ohio State associate head coach John Groce, Kent State coach Jimmy Christian, Wright State coach Brad Brownell and Sam Houston State's Bob Marlin. Any one of them would be as good a fit for SLU as anyone hired elsewhere this spring

Rivals.com (Free)

Rivals.com 10 assistants ready to move up......Groce is #1 on the list.
Man, that article shows how much respect the college hoops world has for John Groce... and that gets me worried! He's one I sure hope we don't lose here in the next couple of years...

But if we do lose him, I hope he holds out for a really quality job, because he's deserved it. One heck of a coach and one hell of a recruiter.
