Jordan Hicks (Philadelphia Eagles)

Scout $ - Hicks is waiting on LSU

5/5

From the LSU site...Alabama, Texas, Florida, Ohio State and Penn State have been by to see him recently...will take some visits this summer but will save his officials for the fall...LSU wants to see him at camp before offering but he is not sure if he will go...says he doesn't think distance will be a factor.

LOL at lsu having to see him at camp. I mean he is obv good enough for an offer.........
Does Ohio State ever not offer a kid obviously good enough? Like kids who aren't interested enough to come to camp?

Just because a kid doesn't have an offer from a major school doesn't mean the kid is not good enough in all areas to attend.

JC Shurburtt: 2010 Under Armour All-America Game loaded at linebacker - ESPN

Jordan Hicks, 6-2, 210, West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West

Billy Tucker on Hicks: Hicks is one of the better linebackers to come out of the Midwest in recent years. He has a difference-maker component to his game and will be a guy offenses need to scheme around at the next level. He is one of the more explosive linebackers and vertical attackers we have seen in the past few classes and has great speed/range for his size pursuing sideline-to-sideline. A complete 'backer, Hicks can beat blockers to hole between the tackles with quickness or blow up the run at the point of attack with great strength and short-area power.

Recruiting Buzz: Texas is the team to beat for Hicks, who plans to make several unofficial visits this summer.

From the Cincinnati Enquirer High School Blog:

Lakota West junior LB Jordan Hicks has narrowed his college list to about five schools, Lakota West football coach Larry Cox said a few minutes ago. Cox didn't name the schools, but said Hicks could be ready to announce his list soon.

Hicks told the Pulse Journal today he has narrowed list to six schools and is "very close" to revealing the list publicly.

"I kind of got them in my mind," Hicks told the Pulse Journal, "but I've got to sit down with my mom and see what she thinks."

Hicks, who is generally regarded as one of the nation's top recruits in the 2010 class and No. 1 in Ohio, told the Pulse Journal that he is also considering early graduation from high school.

Hicks, at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, is the No. 1-rated outside LB in the country in his class according to Rivals.com, and the 16th prospect overall.

Hicks said Tuesday morning, June 9, that his list of 16 schools is trimmed down to six, and he is ?very close? to revealing those schools.

?I kind of got them in my mind,? Hicks said, ?but I?ve got to sit down with my mom (Kelly Justice) and see what she thinks.?

Hicks ? who is seriously considering graduating early ? said all he needs to take in the fall is a double block of English and two elective courses to graduate early, which would cause him to miss the basketball season.

?There?s always the opportunity I might graduate early,? Hicks said. ?It all depends. If I graduate early, obviously I won?t be playing (basketball), but I?m still going to work out with them during the summer. I?m going to work out with them like I?m on the team. Nothing?s going to change this summer. It all depends next season if I decide to graduate early.?

Not huge news, but:

Midwest's best prospect Jordan Hicks announces three official visits
Under Armour All-American outside linebacker Jordan Hicks has informed ESPN affiliate Web site Bucknuts.com that he will make official visits to Ohio State, Texas and USC.

Hicks is expected to make at least one additional official visit likely to Florida, Alabama or Georgia.

Bucknuts.com believes Hicks' recruitment will come down to Ohio State and Texas. Hicks' favorite team growing up was the Longhorns, who will hold a scholarship for him. However, he visited the Buckeyes in March with his mother and the trip went extremely well.

Several other programs including LSU, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Illinois, West Virginia, Stanford, Duke, Indiana and Cincinnati have also offered Hicks.

Hicks registered 88 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and four sacks last fall earning Division I First Team All-State notoriety. As a sophomore, he recorded 61 tackles and four sacks.

At the Cincinnati Nike Camp, he posted an electronically-timed 4.56 40-yard dash and 36.9-inch vertical.

Dave Berk of Scout has posted a two-part interview with Jordan Hicks entitled "Jordan Hicks Walks With Humility":

Jordan Hicks Interview - Part I
Jordan Hicks Interview - Part II

Jordan discusses his strengths and weaknesses as a football player, his former interest in basketball, his family and social life, and recruiting. His current favorites are (in no particular) Ohio State, Texas, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Southern Cal. Jordan talks about the benefits of staying close to home versus the allure of going away to school.
