Joseph Barksdale (OL Arizona Cardinals)

That is one reason I don't like the AA game.

Well as long as they just grab the hat and do it in a classy manner I honestly have no problem with it. Let them have their little moment in the sun. I have problem with the guys that play the little tricks with the hats and do all that jazz. I think that is a lot better than a holding a press conference.

Now back to Joe. I think he is #1 priority on the board and it looks good for him.

the reason why I personally don't this (when the said player is ready to commit to tOSU in June), is not because of the actual declaration, but because Lots of things can change over 6mo. and if the player is waiting to verbal because of this trend of annoucing at the AA game...i'd feel better about the "banana dancing now"

I know a verbal committment is only "verbal" and a kid can change his mind anyway, but I think it is more likely that other schools will be courting him more aggressively etc. and it is more likely to happen if he waits to verbal.

I don't know if you have anyone inparticular in mind, but this is almost identical to what happened with us and A.J. Wallace. There was a rumor going around that after the Texas game, he was going to be a Buckeye, but time changed that and he ended up at PSU.

Interesting thread. Our guys are saying there's a very good chance he's headed to Austin. Just goes to show that these regional biases can get pretty serious. Now whether that regional bias (as far as Mr. Barksdale is concerned) resides in Texas, Ohio, or a combination of both remains to be seen.

With all that said, I'm not very confident. The last guy we got out of a Midwestern state was 5 years ago. Mack just doesn't recruit in that region, and I don't blame him. But that sucks in this case because I really want this kid. I hope this gut feeling I have is wrong.

I think our lack of depth at DT in the coming years is a major advantage for us, what is the depth situation at DT for the Longhorns? (I ask because you are probably already stacked with in state guys, even though I don't know that for sure.)
