The extra height sure wouldve helped with all the batted balls this year (and that's not all on JT, blocking schemes can help create better throwing lanes as well).

One of JT's biggest challenges is arm strength though. He just doesn't push it downfield well and part of that is having to "overthrow" or "max exert" to get it where it needs to be. It effects his accuracy....

Burrow doesn't have elite arm strength but it's a few tiers better than JT. Burrow spins it pretty well....I think decent comparison is Andy Dalton (which is poor for NFL and probably average for college) in terms of arm strength. Barrett isn't even in that class....

But when Barrett is on, he's getting the ball out quick, and spreading it around to all the options. We need to keep in mind Kenny Guiton looked like a better QB than Braxton at times because of how effective Herman was at play calling, and Kenny's ability to get the ball to his guys in space and quickly. He was just a distributor....

JT, hopefully gets the chance to be that guy again, rather than a true pocket QB with 5 guys running routes. That's not JT's strength.....

If people can't see how Urban protects his program: taking the blame for those back-to-back run Braxton not Hyde, taking the blame for Johnston fake punt (despite clearly yelling "who called that!?"), allowing Withers and Beck to move on gracefully... Urban is not an idiot.

Further, if Coach did blame someone else for that play call - I would lose an immense amount of respect for him. He has done things the "right way" since moving to Franklin County, but, to pretend like Urban is telling the truth to the media regarding 'who called what play' is silly, IMO. Maybe he is.. maybe he isn't... but, to me anyways, seems clear as day he circles the wagons and protects his program like a good CEO should.

@billmac91 - agree with you there, Burrows has a big time arm and definitely has the stronger arm. When JT was a FR though his deep balls were much better than they are now and I think that comes back to confidence, even a tenth of a second of hesitation will significantly disrupt the deep ball and I think we saw that numerous times. It was a constant problem for him this year even on his mid routes you'd see him not rotate his hips and you'd get the 5 yards over and 3 yards too far out in front when he'd try to over compensate quickly.

I'm extremely confident with Wilson though that we'll see the 'old' JT and he'll surprise some people......he's going to put up some numbers like we haven't seen if healthy!

Urban Meyer has said himself that Burrow's arm strength wasn't up to snuff when he got here, but it's been improving. I'd call it a draw at best. I've seen JT throw some rockets. I've yet to see Burrow put any mustard on the ball. What I love about Burrow is his touch and accuracy. That's where I see him having an edge on JT

The ball comes out quick with Burrow as well. JTB has that ridiculously long throwing motion. It's a major hindrance to a downfield/vertical passing game.

I was there the night he entered vs UCLA. As the crowd roared I remember thinking "Just because you haven't seen him fail does not mean he will succeed," my usual thought when the savior with the clipboard is summoned.

As it turned out, that was his peak performance.

to be fair Bellisari seemed to start grasping this whole QB thing his last couple starts under Tress but then he got popped for a DUI the thursday before the Illinois game in '01 and there went that. didnt see him again until the comeback attempt vs south car in the bowl game
