Lamarcus Joyner (DB New York Jets)

I have arrived at the only reason tOSU fans could ever doubt this recruitment:

1. tOSU has recruited the #1 prospect in the country. He is our QB.
2. tOSU has recruited the #1 prospect in Florida. He is our C.
3. tOSU has recruited the #1 prospect at DB. He was the Dolphins 1st round pick.
4. tOSU has never recruited the #1 prospect in the country, from Florida, at DB... it has just never happened. :wink2: O' the Times, they are a' change'n...

I was hanging out with Chris Carter and Duron at the under armour combine today. MAn I didnt want LJ to anything today b/c I've been working him hard. Yesterday I had him at the beach running the sand and water so his legs were dead. But Carter got in his head and after LJ saw Deion he got hyped. Ran a 4.47 40, actually slower than last yrs 4.34 but thats with heavy legs. Fastest time on the L-drill 7.0.

There was no angle at all. Pure speed. Look at it again. Can I get a witness please

I will gladly give you my vouch being a devout Jaamal Berry and Palmetto Panther fan and I saw it from the other sideline. I couldn't believe that Berry got run down, it's like LJ was human nitrous.

And there is a dark horse, I mean real dark horse. Not even a BCS school which he's not talking mentioning who has one of the best persons as man that I know. And he honestly doesn't care what school LJ goes to and his relationship with us is through the roof. If this guy was at a BCS school it would have been a committment right now hands down.

ND isn't technically in a BCS conference... Maybe it's Weis?

JC Shurtburtt: South Florida's best show up for UA Miami combine - ESPN

DAVIE, Fla. -- Many of South Florida's top prospects took part in the Under Armour Combine on Sunday at the Dolphins Training Facility, including standout cornerback LaMarcus Joyner, who could be one of the best at his position in the country.

Though there were many high-end prospects at the event, Joyner was perhaps the most celebrated and impressive. The 5-foot-9, 165-pounder is explosive, fast, can change direction and is strong for his size. Joyner posted a 4.47 second 40-yard dash, but it was his final event of the day in the testing portion of the combine and he said following his second try (that was when he got the 4.47) that he felt he could run a better time if he were not as fatigued. He had a stellar l-cone time of 7 seconds. (And one note to remember, all the times are unofficial and won't be posted official until later in the week).

Joyner also was impressive during the one-on-one and seven-on-seven drills toward the end of the camp and also in the defensive back drills, where he showed quick feet and the ability to turn, run and close fast.

"I did what I do every time I come on the field, which is compete," Joyner said. "It's like they say in South Florida, you turn on the faucet and the athletes just come pouring out. There is always someone out there to compete against. That's why I always work hard to get better."

Joyner is in the process of changing schools. He played last season at Miami Southwest and plans to transfer to another school in the area. Columbus, where standout running back Jakhari Gore plays, is rumored to be one destination, but Joyner alluded to the fact that there is another school that is a possibility.

"I am still going through the process (of transferring)," he said. "I am going to another school, but it may not be Columbus. I don't want to say what the other school is right now."

Joyner said he might take unofficial visits to Florida State, Miami, Florida, Southern California and Ohio State.

I assumed Genron had already indicated the nonBCS school of high interest with this post.

Actually that kid had a previous medical condition that he and his family concealed. That workout in question was a light training session consisting of mostly dynamic stretching drills. Anywayz, my bad I just wanted to answer that real quick....

Genron187,

I heard that South Miami is trying to BLOCK Joyner from transfering to other Dade schools????

So when does Joyner transfer to St. Thomas Aquinas? :wink2:

You mean Southwest, that school is unbelievable in stupidity.....and who said anything about STA...I'm thinking more Ransom Everglades or Archbishop Curley to be specific.

Heard the rumor on the Miami board while talking about Berry that Joyner was transferring to Duron Carter's school.

Yes I meant Southwest.

I don't understand SW not letting a kid transfer to a private school like Columbus. (?)

Ransom Everglades? Archbishop Curley? Are these Private shools?

I asked you if he was attending anymore Miami camps and you said NO...I missed seeing him at Dolphins stadium. It's MY bad..i should have gone anyway.

Is he done for good now? Look forward to seeing him this season...thanks.

As far as I know about Dade County schools here in Miami in the public system, if a player moves into another HS district, there's nothing that the previous school can do. If he goes to a private school, there's DEFINITELY nothing that other school can do. The only thing then that a school could possibly hope for is to show that the player was somehow illegally recruited by the new school, and lots of luck on that.

I should add that I knew of kids who lived out of district, but were allowed into a high school because of magnet program (specialty program often in arts, music, sciences, etc.) or some other circumstance. There's a school not too far from Palmetto, Coral Reef, which is a very good high school that has a very good magnet program and they get kids from all over the county.

LJ's a class guy.
