Bruyneel eager to reunite with Armstrong at Astana - - SI.com

I don't know about anybody else, but I suddenly became interested in cycling again. I wasn't sure I'd ever pay attention to the sport again after Floyd Landis, but then again I can't say I really saw this coming.

It'll be interesting to see how this comes off. Team Astana is the most natural fit since it is run by Johan Bruyneel, but they already have a top rider in Contador. I can't see Armstrong coming back to be a domestique, and even with Armstrong's legendary status, it's not really fair to ask Contador, the 2007 Tour champion to do the same. It might end up being a reprise of the old T-Mobile team with Ullrich, Vinokourov & Kloden (who ironically enough, now rides for Astana) all contending for GC and dividing the team.

Armstrong to race in both Tour de France, Giro d'Italia

AUSTIN, Texas -- Lance Armstrong will ride in the 2009 Tour de France, marking the first time he will compete in that race and the Giro d'Italia in the same year.
"I'm committed to riding for the best guy," Armstrong said Monday, acknowledging the taxing schedule could leave him riding in a supporting role in France.
The Giro runs May 9-31, and the Tour begins July 4.
With such a quick turnaround between two grueling races, the seven-time Tour champion acknowledged his body might not perform at the same level it did when he won his last Tour in 2005.
"If you've been away for three or four years, it would be silly for anybody to think I could pick up where I left off," Armstrong told The Associated Press in a telephone interview from Tenerife in the Canary Islands where Astana is training. "I can tell you I feel better than ever, I feel stronger than ever on Dec. 1. How that translates to racing, we'll have to see. Mentally, in terms of motivation, this feels like 1998-1999 to me."
Armstrong's decision to ride gives the powerhouse Astana team a superstar lineup in France, including 2007 Tour winner Alberto Contador. He missed last year's race because Astana was barred from riding for previous doping violations. Also riding with Astana is Germany's Andreas Kloeden, American veteran Levi Leipheimer and top support rider Yaroslav Popovych. Astana is considered by far the strongest multistage team.
"We'll abide by the same code that I do: Cycling is team sport, while we'd all like to win," he said.

Tough setback, but it sounds like he'll be okay as long as he goes to Oregon to train in their state-of-the-art facilities.

My dumbass crashed and burned coming down the backside of Tantalus hill in Honolulu Thursday evening, and suffered a Type III AC separation:

Doc said that AC separations up to Type III don't require surgery, and after seeing that HomeDepot job the surgeons did on Armstrong I'm glad I'm sticking with the sling for 2-4 weeks.

Who cares about your injury...the more important question is the bike OK?

Snapped off the right shift lever and scraped up the taping on the right handlebar...eveything else is fine according to the mechanic who took it back to the shop that evening. Not bad for it ending up 25 feet from where I did...

Priorities, priorities... :wink2:

Oooh, good question. And more importantly, if you have to buy a new one, will you have it shipped from the mainland?
