Latest Eddie George Update

Eddie's in contract talks with Dallas according to ESPN, KFFL and a couple Dallas publications. Doesn't sound like a rich deal, something like 2 years, but more focused on 1. Not huge money, but this could be a great deal for Eddie. Much more attractive than ANY team with Jeff Fisher as coach in my opinion.

Anyone want to take me up on that 1250 yards bet? My only requirement is that he has to be the featured back.

Anyway, I think this is great news for Eddie.

I'll take the bet C.

I only have 25 right now but after Lance wins the Tour de France I'll get a lot of my vcash back.

Sounds good. vCash is getting reset before the season starts, so we'll just remember this, and plug it into the system post-reset. How much do you want to go? Whatever it is will be tied up all season long, so I don't want to go too nuts lest we interfere with weekly 'wagers' on the games, but enough to make it fun and interesting.

We'll also have to decide what makes him the 'featured' back. 2/3rds of the total carries on the season? That's just an arbitrary number, I'm open to anything.

I'd be willing to do up to 100 or....

We could just lay some actual green down on it. :wink2:

I'll think about the details of the bet and let you know.

Lol, I better stick with the vCash. I feel better about Eddie than most of the 'experts' seem to, but not so much I'd risk some real yack.

100 sounds fine to me.

That's a tough call...

A pissed-off, inspired workhorse out to redeem himself is a tempting thought but knowing Quincy Carter is the man responsible for keeping the D honest is a scary thought. Then again, gaining 1000 yds in the NFL is not what it used to be...tough call. I might want some of this action as soon as I get some vcash

George making free agent visit to Cowboys
July 22, 2004
SportsLine.com wire reports

IRVING, Texas -- Eddie George's first visit as a free agent will be with the Dallas Cowboys on Friday.

Agent Lamont Smith said it's no coincidence that George's first trip since the running back was released by the Tennessee Titans is to Dallas.

"It's an indication of his priority," Smith told the Associated Press on Thursday. "It's high on his list, very high on his list."

Smith said it didn't matter who made the first call but both sides were very interested in getting a deal done quickly. "We'll have to see if we will," Smith said.

The Cowboys open training camp next weekend in Oxnard, Calif.

George rushed for more than 10,000 yards in eight years for the Titans. The team granted his request for release Wednesday in a salary-cap move.

The Titans wanted him back, but at a reduced salary. The team's final offer was $1.5 million in base salary -- considerably less than the $4.25 million he expected to make this season.

George, who has never missed a start in his career, was popular with Titans fans, but his production slipped in recent years. In 2000, he ran for 1,509 yards, averaging 3.7 yards per carry. Last season, his average fell to 3.3 yards as he rushed for 1,031 yards. He turns 31 in September.

The Cowboys have plenty of room under the salary cap to be able to afford George.

Dallas is unsettled at running back. The starter going into training camp is rookie Julius Jones, a second-round pick from Notre Dame.

Cowboys officials could not be immediately reached by telephone for comment.
