LB Dante Booker (Official Thread)

I was thinking about this too. I wonder if its an indicator of them still growing or maybe not having yet "filled out", but I do know that the average person equals that height with their wing span.
As pointed out you will see some "freaks" at the NBA combine, so I got excited at first seeing the results, but after seeing it be that way for all of them, I figured there is something going on with the measurements being done differently.

He's a top 5 OLB! Why would we put him on the line when, #1 DE has plenty of talent and depth and #2 we have been complaining all year about LB depth. It makes no sense to take one of our most talented LBs and change his position. Theres a reason the staff went after the top LBs in this class.

I never said I wanted him to be moved or thought he should be moved to the line just that when I see an 18 year old kid that has already been up to 250, he has the frame to carry it and hasn't seen the OSU weight room yet, he is going to put on more weight once he gets here. You just don't see 260+ pound LB's walking around every day. All I'm saying. It happens every year where OSU has guys outgrow positions.

Thanks, pnuts, I am well aware of the LB depth issues/problems the last 3 years...lol:biggrin2:

Not trying to bust b@ll$, but we all know the need for LBs. And I honestly don't know where you're getting that he's 250?! He's barely 220 on all the recruiting sites. And could probably get to 230ish over time. Shazier came in around that size and still isn't much bigger. Yes, guys get bigger but Dante isn't near a size to be a lineman.

I saw somewhere he was up to nearly 250 @ some point, @ 225-230 much of this year. It is getting late. I could be going a little crazy too. Looks like all the major sites do have him around 210-220 currently. I'll rescind my comments if that is the case.

My bad. I found the article I was referring to. I was reading Kwon's December 16th commitment article on Scout and wrote about Booker for some reason.

And no, I am not trying to move all of this year's great LB haul to different positions, just have a lot of prospects w/ good size I guess....lol

Shazier came in a few cheeseburgers shy of 200 lbs. He's put on about 30 lbs of "good muscle" since he has been here.

Raekwon McMillan and Dante Booker, two of Ohio State's highest-ranked recruits in the "Dream '14," were selected to the Parade All-American teams this weekend, an honor that ranks among the most prestigious in all of high school sports. McMillan and Booker join Michigan commitment Jabrill Peppers as the only Big Ten (potential) signees to make the cut. McMillan, who is already enrolled at Ohio State, and Booker were two of four linebackers selected.

Booker doesn't get talked up as much as McMillen, but in every combine he went to he excelled. He won't redshirt and could compete for playing time. He's that good! I'm excited to see what he can do at the college level.

Think of how good of a class you have when a consensus top 5-10 LB is overlooked. I agree that he could push for PT, and not just on special teams. The LBs we got in the class are very good and Dante could be the most athletic of the bunch
