LB Mike D'Andrea (official thread)

As a brief side note, the not playing this year and the surgery comments were accompanied with a probably or a likely. That being said the way Tressel said it, it sounded like both were certainties.
Best of luck to Mike, with the team next year and/or in life.

What a disappointment about Mike D'Andrea

I grew up in Avon Lake and live there now. I met Mike D'Andrea a few months after he had signed officially with Ohio State. For all of his accolades, I could not believe how humble and unassuming Mike was. There was not a trace of arrogance in Mike D'Andrea whatsoever.

Having seen Mike play at Avon Lake, I always wondered why the coaching staff kept Mike in the middle when I believed his best position was at an outside LB spot (like Carpenter played last year). Ironically, Mike was interested in playing that spot this coming season.

I am glad that Mike was a part of the national championship team of 2002. Considering all of the setbacks and disappointments he has endured, at least he will be able to recall the magical season of his true freshman year.

Mike, best of luck to you now and in all that you do.
