Legit shot at final 4?

Evan Turner will do his best Danny Manning impersonation.

There are no great teams this year, so seeding and matchups will play an increased role, which is already a critical role. I think we could see a final four with all 3-4 seeds as easily as we could it with all 1 seeds.

Should be an entertaining March, though.

The bench problem will be even more evident in the tournament where the officials call a lot of petty fouls you don't normally see in the Big Ten. I call them "ACC fouls." That's why you always see the "foul trouble" graphic near the end of tournament games with players on both sides.

This team is conditioned enough that they could play with just 6 guys if they didn't have to worry about foul trouble.

Still wish Matta would be willing to play some more PJ Hill and Jeremie Simmons in blowout games. Get them some minutes because I fear we are going to need them in the future.

I wonder what Ohio State's percentage would be if ET didn't miss a month....

The BTN showed an interesting stat.

tOSU defeated all 10 opponents during the season. The last 3 teams to do that in the Big Ten?

2004-05 Illinois
2006-07 tOSU
2008-09 Sparty

What else do those teams have in common?

They all made it to the National Title game. Interesting, isn't it?

That IS an interesting stat. I like it!

Having said that, as I watched the team play last night, I just get the feeling that it'll be hard for this team to make it to the Final 4.

I think the we at least have a legit shot at the Sweet Sixteen. It also depends on how we do in the conference tournament and if we can snag a #1 seed also. But i dont think anything should really be talked about until the bracket comes out because we could have a unfavorable road as well.

It's always hard to make it to the final 4, but I'm guessing you mean especially hard after last night. Your reason, I don't know... I think that we played fairly poorly yet still eeked out a 16 pt win...sounds pretty good to me.

You don't think we would beat Duke, or Villanova, or WVU on a neutral floor, or almost any team if we're on our game?

I already know it's hard for any team but I don't see why yesterday makes it any harder..

It's all going to depend on the matchups we get. I think we can beat almost anyone. Our only problem is we need Jared Sullinger now instead of next year.

Ohio State is not getting a 1 seed. I think they've locked up a 2 seed, which means they should expect an Elite 8 appearance. Depending on the matchup, a Final Four isn't as crazy as it seemed when this thread was created.

I just cannot understand this talk about "at least a legit shot at the Sweet Sixteen"?! This team is among the elite in college basketball right now.. They have experience and 4 guys who are capable of scoring.. They ABSOLUTELY have a shot at the Final Four!!

True, but even if it's an unfavorable bracket I think most would be fairly dissapointed if OSU didn't win 2 games in the tourney and get to the 16. I could see a big upset happening if OSU's shooting goes completely awry, but with how they're playing they shouldn't lose too soon.

Precisely because we played fairly poorly. Yup, we beat up on Illi, but I've seen too many marginal performances to make me think we're going to make a run. Could we beat any of those teams if we're "on our game"? I think so. But I don't like our chances of us being on our game enough to make the run.

Beyond this, we have no bench strength, which is a concern. Look, I hope I'm wrong...
