I don't doubt that LC spoke to Justin about the transfer, and might have actually said good things about our wonderful institution.

However, the way the article was written sounded like he was undermining UM and the new staff.

I'd be a little upset about the leak, and the way the column was written (and I'm not nearly as surly as he is).

Agreed.. ever since we heard that Boren was potentially transferring, we knew OSU was a possibility. There is a rivalry between UM and OSU, but I don't think Carr would tell Boren not to transfer to Ohio State just because we're rivals. He probably told Justin to do what was best for his family and career. He might have said OSU would be the best option. This is obviously all speculation..

But I don't see Carr trying to do what the article suggested. I do find it interesting that an article was written that pissed off both OSU and UM fans.

Lloyd Carr: On attrition with Rich Rod, Michigan Stadium, his retirement and more

Transcribed by Anthony Fenech, Free Press Special Writer
July 29, 2008

Former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr appeared on the WDFN Radiothon and talked about a variety of topics. Here are the highlights:

[...]

On wishing anything was done differently with the process of hiring Rodriguez:

"I think obviously in the sports world today and in college athletics, these contracts are extremely complicated and I think unfortunately for everybody, some of those complexities find their way into the negotiations. So I'm just very happy that it's over before the season starts so that the focus can be on Coach Rodriguez and all of those guys that are going to be wearing the maize and blue, and that's where the focus should be - on this team, on their challenges this fall and what they bring to the stadium and across Wolverine nation."

[...]

On being upset that some of the players he recruited left during the transition:

"I think any time you have people leave, that is a disappointment because of all those things that go into it, but I do also think that it's a part of life and it's certainly a part of college football. Inevitably, there are transitions that have to occur and Coach Rodriguez has come in and he is establishing his program the way he wants to run it and that's exactly what he should do. In almost every transition there are going to be changes as far as people deciding to go elsewhere and you just wish that they'll be successful where they go and you move on from both sides of that coin."

Lloyd Carr among the U-M officials diagnosed with skin cancer

FREE PRESS STAFF ? August 2, 2008
Michigan athletic director Bill Martin, hockey coach Red Berenson and retired football coach Lloyd Carr share another bond beyond the Maize and Blue that runs in their veins.

All three have been diagnosed with melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, the Free Press reporting partners at WDIV-TV Local 4 reported Friday night.

When Martin, whose hobby is sailing, was diagnosed, it occurred to him that if he was at risk because of his outdoors activities, others in the athletic department might be, too.

Martin, who had a spot on his face, asked Dr. Tim Johnson from the University of Michigan?s skin cancer program to have screenings for the entire department.

Berenson was stunned by the results.

I always liked VLLoyd, specially when he had the constipated look on his face after losing The Game again. He seems like a classy man, and I would not mind him landing on his feet and picking up another Coaching gig.

So I was talking to a friend about how Washington State should have had 1 more play at the end of the 1998 Rose Bowl against Michigan, and I was looking for it on YouTube.

1. Does anyone know where I might find a clip showing that the ball is spiked with time still on the clock?

(This really isn't important - I'm just doing nothing at work.)

2. The reason I'm bothering posting anything is that I found this video:

Trev Alberts, you never cease to amaze me.

Ex-Michigan coach Carr stepping down

Former Michigan head football coach Lloyd Carr will retire from his post as an athletic administrator Sept. 1, ending his 30 years of service to the university.

Carr, 64, had served as an associate athletic director for 2? years after retiring as football coach following Michigan's win in the 2008 Capital One Bowl. He coached the Wolverines for 13 seasons, compiling a record of 122-40 with a national championship in 1997 and five Big Ten championships.

"I am thankful for the wonderful opportunity to assist two great coaches here in Bo Schembechler and Gary Moeller and I will always appreciate Joe Roberson's decision to name me the head coach in 1995," Carr said in a prepared statement. "I am also appreciative for those I worked with and for all the great friendships I have developed.

Does this mean the anti RR, pro Les Miles faction just got weaker? I sure hope not, cause I would love to see Les get the nod next at M!c@i#a$. Playing a team full of 5'6" mighty mites with poor clock management to boot would be entertaining.
