LSU Tigers (official thread)

and that all but eliminates LSU from the west race.
I haven't even looked, but I'm sure you both play some chump 1AA team late in the year. Play your game first, then play the 1AA game the same day.

we do, November 19th.
somebody with deep pockets needs to cut a check to those two schools and figure out a way for them to play each other instead.
that would put us playing 3 conference road games in 13 days, but now I really want to prison rape Florida, so just make it happen somehow.

*it would also be nice if we can somehow get paid the money we would lose for giving up the Nov. 19 home game. being since we're now paying a guy like $10 million to not coach us anymore.*

holy hell this the comments from officials and media if chucking hilarious!

Florida AD - "We became concerned about this game this morning"

SEC office - "due to the developments of the last 24 hours"

Finebaum - "this storm took a dramatic turn last night"

um, the storm is still projected to be in roughly the same spot at roughly the same time and at roughly the same strength as it has been forecasted for 3 freaking days now.
we didn't just wake up and suddenly a cat 4 was chilling with no warning signs.

And academically speaking, Florida is second only to Vandy in the SEC. The drop off is significant I guess.

the LSU/Florida game scheduled for Saturday in Gainesville has been cancelled due to Hurricane Matthew. will not be rescheduled.

Sinkholes opening beneath Purdues football field. LSU/Florida cancelled due to a hurricane.

This is a higher power at work telling us they're sick of seeing shitty Purdue football players.

Those damn surprise hurricanes...never know when one is going to suddenly pop up just miles from shore.

this might get interesting before it's all over with.

quick timeline:
LSU officials (and fans) have been saying since Tuesday that this form could present a problem and we need to have a contigency plan. Offered to play sat, sun, mon in either Gainesville or Baton Rouge. also offered the LSU plane for UF if they needed it.
Florida officials and fans insisted that there would be no problems and we could play as scheduled.

LSU and Florida say Wednesday is the day to make a decision. Florida fans insist it will be 78° and sunny at kickoff and LSU is out of their minds for suggesting other wise.

Thursday morning, Miami and FSU move their game to Tampa. Florida says no change in our plans, weather to be good on game day.

Thursday afternoon, Florida says "are you crazy?!!? we can't play a game in these conditions!!!! traveling to another site would be unsafe (even though they wanted LSU to do it and literally every other game in the state figured out a way to make it happen). Florida AD says they didn't drag their feet on the decision and need all information possible before deciding. Today's forecast has the storm at roughly the same strength in roughly the same spot at roughly the same time as the forecast on Tuesda my when people first brought up the potential issue.
So very little if anything (forecast wise) has changed from when florida said "we can absolutely play in Gainesville on Saturday" to when they said "holy shit! we're all going to die and all LSU is worried about is football!"

30 minutes later an "insider" story comes out that UF wants to play in Gainesville on Nov 19, but LSU refused and LSU demanded they put people in danger by playing this weekend.

an hour later, LSU denies ever even having any conversations about November 19.

somebody somewhere is full of shit.
don't know who and i'm not even going to try to guess.
just sucks that every other game in Florida (and 2 other states) figured out amicable solutions and we can't get a straight answer from anyone.

It will be rescheduled. It has to be, unless neither team has a shot to win their division.

i'm interested to see how this plays out.

LSU still controlled their own destiny in the division. If this game isn't made up, they no longer do

Divisions are decided by winning percentage.
Meaning if LSU wins out handing Bama their only loss, 7-1 Bama would go to Atlanta over 6-1 LSU.

Floridas odd of winning the division increas by not playing this game. LSU was favored to win and a loss would have virtually eliminated the gators. With Tennessee likely to lose their next 2, UF would now take the lead in the East. at 6-1 they would go in ahead of 6-2 tennessee.

if this scenario plays out and the game is never made up, you can expect to hear a lot more grumbling about the SEC office favoring Bama once again.

a chance to screw LSU and Tennessee while also benefitting Bama.

we'll see what happens.

as a football fan that enjoys the series vs Florida, i hope they figure this out. even if it means playing on 11/19.

as a lifelong Louisiana resident, i hope if that happens, that someone comes up with a way to offset the $5 million dollar hit LSU takes for not having that game in Baton Rouge.
that's not even taking into account the surrounding area typically makes one weekends LSU plays at home.
