Mark Sanchez (Philadelphia Eagles)

Wow, we sure made up a lot of distance fast with this kid, you gotta believe that having a teammate and friend already in the fold is helping us a lot with him.
Very true. Just remember that most of these kids haven't really put too much thought into the recruiting process yet (unlike us fans, who think about it 24-7-365). The kids who commit early are usually the ones who have always wanted to go to their local school or childhood favorite program (like the five current OSU commitments). The rest usually name the local schools and a few big-time programs as their favorites, then wait for camps, games, official visits to expand or pare down their lists and focus on their true favorites. That's why "top 5" lists in June are not very relevant. In the next few months, we'll probably see several new names with Ohio State on their list, and by October or November we'll have a good idea about who's serious about the Bucks, and vice versa.

We'll see the influence of Williams as soon as Sanchez drops scUM from his list. If I were Williams, I'd be okay with Sanchez picking another school over OSU, but it sure as hell wouldn't be scUM.

Kurelic update on BSB

Sanchez will visit tOSU next Wed with his dad

The main schools he is looking at are Ohio State, Nebraska, USC, Texas, and Florida- no favorite but he may name one after his summer visits

Buckeye737- does this mean Williams is working some magic with Sanchez?? no scUM :)

That is actually a good list to be competing against for Sanchez. USC and Nebraska are both stuffed to the gills at QB. Nebraska signed 3 QBs last year, and already has a commit from a Top 100 type guy in Harrsion Beck from Florida. USC has JD Booty, Rocky Hinds, and others waiting in the wings. PT wise, OSU, Florida, and Texas are much better bets,IMO. I wouldn't feel bad about our odds in a battle w/ those two. If USC gets in his head-fuhgeddaboutit.

He's wide open right now, and will give you guys a good look. Believe it or not, the Lemming quote is actually spot on. He'll go where he feels he can play within a year, and his dad will have some input. I'd say at this point, you'd have as good a shot as any if he has a great visit. Just have to wait and see how it plays out for now, because it's early.

If playing within a year is his goal, then Texas and Florida would be better bets, w/ Leak and Vincent Banks probably both leaving early. FWIW, Nebraska apparently told Harrison Beck that they would not recruit another QB this year if he did not take any more visits anywhere.

There is a very positive update on Sanchez following his unofficial visit to Ohio State. The Buckeyes are now at the top of his list of schools and he sees an opportunity to compete for playing time. He loved the campus, the stadium and really enjoyed visiting with the coaching staff. :)

If Zwick lives up to his high school hype, then he'll be the starter for at least two years (which would include Sanchez's frosh year) and probably three (through Sanchez's sophomore year). And that's is Smith doesn't win the job. I'd love to see Sanchez commit to us, but if he's looking to start right away, he'd really better be Shi'ite-hot...there are two Elite-11 QBs with two years of study under their belt.

Sanchez seems very aware of the depth chart here. Would you want a kid who is scared off by competition or a kid who sees an opportunity despite it? Granted he'll be at a disadvantage experience wise and will have a lot of ground to make up as far as learning the offense goes. If Zwick or Smith has a great year, like you stated, it may very well change Sanchez's mind but if he thinks he can come in and win the job here despite Zwick, Smith and Boeckman, more power to him. He does look awfully impressive on film.
