Head Coach
didn't think this belonged in the Patriots thread.

He is only the 5th NFL QB to ever throw back to back 400 yard games.

My question, is who is going to completely OVERPAY for him in the off-season? His agent has already said they will be looking for an Aaron Rodgers type deal.

This mirrors Matt Schaub's situation, in which the Texans got into bed with a solid back-up QB. Maybe the Lions, Vikings, 49ers? Some team is going to blow a massive amount of money.

..or do the Patriots do to Tom Brady what they did to Drew Bledsoe and keep the new guy?

I'd like to see him go to SF, but I'm not sure I want them to pay him a ridiculous amount. He looks like a smart QB with a decent arm, and tons of potential. He's definitely taking advantage of his weapons and system there in NE.

That's the thing...is Tom Brady, Tom Brady in another franchise? There is something special at New England right now. The personnel decesions have been top notch. Pairing one of the best deep ball receivers (Randy Moss) with a still underrated Wes Welker was a stroke of genious.

Not trying to take anything away from Caseel, but if my team were to offer him 8-9 mill a year, I'd be very disappointed. I just don't see that ending well.

He might be the real deal. I don't think he would be in the position he is in now after not starting a single game in college if people didn't think this guy could be a legit QB in the league. Maybe we're seeing the beginnings of the next great QB or maybe we're just seeing a solid career backup having a few good games. Only time will tell. Should be interesting to see who goes after him and how much they are willing to throw at him.

I don't think he'd be quite as ridiculous, but from what I've seen, he has a great arm. He can make all the throws. Cassel still has some work to do, but he makes good decisions and has a decent arm. He's pretty mobile too. I don't think he'd be a bust elsewhere, but I don't think he'd be amazing. This is based on what I've seen.. when teams get another shot at him, he might look dreadful.

I'd say the Vikings should go after him, remember the 49ers still have Alex Smith AKA Derek Anderson.

I think its conceivable JT O'Sullivan could be having huge success in New England. Tom Brady was a 6th round pick, and they've made him one of the best in the game. Deficienies and all...it isn't as if Tom has a gun for an arm and any escapability. They have just developed him as much as possible and put him in successful positions.

I don't think anyone outside of UM fan even knows who Tom Brady is if he doesn't get drafted by New England. And Matt Cassel is about to get VERY rich by being a New England backup. I believe many QB's would be having the same success in that system. Fortunately for Matt Cassel, it's him and he's going to cash in. I think unfortunately for his next team, they aren't the New England Patriots. They are going to overpay for a backup QB.
