I was thinking more in the imbecile to idiot range.

I remember when he wrote the column about the BoT members who were reaching out to him (laughable in its own right) to express how mad they were at Drake. And then like three weeks later, Drake gets a glowing revue and his maximum bonus.

Exactly how? Fundraising hit record highs with him. Research funding hit record highs with him. Student selectivity and rankings hit record highs with him. Our relationship with the politicians and business leaders was never better. Do you honestly think he got the UC job because he was a failure at Ohio State? The worst thing I can say about Drake is that he wasn’t a perfect fit for the OSU/foosball culture - and that’s not nothing at Thee OSU, but it is vastly outweighed by his sheer competence and overall success at being our 15th president. Academically, athletically, and financially, he leaves the university in excellent shape. And yeah, it certainly also reflects well on both Drake and OSU for him to take on the UC job.

And I think that's a good thing. I would be seriously worried, if the greater fanbase was too in love with a university President. If Jeff Snook and his merry band of mouthbreathers over at Ozone aren't complaining about the university President, I'm starting to think that something might be seriously wrong.

I think Dr. Drake is a better fit at the University of California system than he was at Ohio State. That's neither a condemnation nor lionization. It just is what it is.
