Game Thread Minnesota @ Ohio State - 10/13/18, 12:00PM (FS1)

Can say the same. Already said Tate is appropriate at times. Can't rely on that. Need to utilize the strengths already on the field like corner fades and quick slants. Arguing in circles

I just don’t see need to put ball in air when we have the talent to move the ball forward 3 feet and it’s a Meyer comfort zone.

I feel like the answer is obvious....it’s just about incorporating it and
Well i definitely think they need to work on the fade. It worked well last year. Same with slants. Obviously I'd rather be able to run it in though.

At times I think Tate would work really well in those packages, but you have to be excellent at executing them and quickly subbing in the right personnel. It might be that they're just not comfortable with execution yet.

Either way the OL still has to improve to really make difference in short yardage.

We just aren’t having same discussion honestly.....a fade route on 3rd and 1 on the opponents 40 is a terrible percentage play. JT would convert that 95% of the time on a RB dive or QB wham.

We are getting bogged down in short yardage far too often inside the opponents 50 yard line.

I’m not advocating making a QB change. I’m advocating in a specific situation, pitting a QB in who can duplicate what JT brought to the table to move the chains.

It’s quute simple. I hope Meyer goes in the direction.

Oh I was thinking fade in the RZ, definitely not a random 3rd and 1. Those mid field plays would be more appropriate for Tate.

What happened in this game was way off what I expected. Hard to believe we live in a day and age when Iowa can dominate Minnesota and then the next week the same Minnesota team whips OSU in the running game on both sides of the ball. Frankly, I have lost confidence in OSU being able to compete with the truly elite teams in CFB based on subpar rushing and defending the run against quality competition.

People making too many arguments about things that aren't mutually exclusive. We can throw the ball all over the place, and still should be able to run the ball. Where were the spread looks and bubbles today? Saw very few screens after we've looked so good throwing them. Where's the double move on the outside? The TE wheel was fantastic right behind a go route; we need more combo patterns like that.
Spread and then run. Allow Dwane to audible the run when he needs to. He actually did a much better job carrying out his play fakes today than recently so definitely not all negative.
Honestly, I'd move Jordan back to Guard and put Myers in at Center some. I'm definitely not sold on the RG position and it's killing our running game.

Defense still takes themselves out of too damn many plays. The recognition is not there and they are too slow to react. It's a serious problem.
I was really impressed with the ball coming off of Haubel's foot today. Best looking swing I've seen since Nuge left, he has cannon out there!

Please get healthy and figure shit out. There are once in a lifetime talents on this team and it will be a damn shame to waste them through injuries and poor schemes.

What's the best thing about being 7-0, and at the game today?? Singing Carmen Ohio with the boys and a chance to go 8-0!!!

You don’t need a running QB to be successful running the ball. Pittsburgh doesn’t pull Big Ben out to run the ball. They run out of the shotgun. I think our blocking scheme and our play calling needs work. Quit doing delays, quit dancing in the backfield, hand the ball off and go. Our line needs to get nasty, right now they’re soft and get no push. If there are too many guys in the box then throw it until they back off. Quick slants, etc.

I’m only permitted to like this once...well stated!

I’m concerned the coaches are afraid/to stubborn to change guys out. Prince was getting whipped. Pull him. Play Riep, play Jones at LB, play some other oline guys. Use some different personnel. We have highly recruited guys sitting. If the guys aren’t doing the job, find someone who will. Look at Haubeil getting a shot, he should be our FG kicker no questions.

Be aggressive on offense, fucking assert your will. We have the talent. Stop running up the gut on 4th and 1 after a timeout. JFC you make millions to be coaches. Get at it man...JFC even Dantonio pulls some shit more often than we do. Try to block a punt for once.

I’ll show myself out now....

PSU is not an elite team, which is why we were able to beat them playing so poorly for 75% of the game. Michigan will kill them and will beat us handily if we don’t improve.
I just can’t believe how many issues this team has, LB, DB’s, OL. Can’t run, can’t stop the run (or pass). Even more shocking is the lack of play makers on defense. No Daren Lee, Ward, Hooker, etc. out there flying around. It just doesn’t give much hope for improvement because there is no sign of life (elite players on defense).

And yet we're the best team in the B1G.

Remarkable, isn't it?
I just wish they would let the fans run the team. When is Meyer going to see the best coaches are those who rule at TECMO bowl. We would win every game by a 100..not give up any rushing yards...sack the QB every down...make all the perfect adjustments....recruit all Ohio Kids..recruit awesome nationally...tell Drake how to be a University President...need I go on? Bama would be peeing down their leg and likely quit the sport.
