Mizzou Tigers (official thread)

He seems like a nice kid based on the article above about his childhood friend but until today I never even noticed this thread. I've not been one to often get excited about the life decisions of 16 year old kids so recruiting doesn't usually excite me. From what I've seen of him at Mizzou at no point have I ever longed to see him in an OSU uniform.

Best of luck to him...

Georgia shuts out Mizzou, 34-0.

Maty Mauk's stat line: 9 for 21, 97 yards, 4 INT's, 3 sacks, and a fumble lost.

If anyone still thinks that he'd look good in scarlet and grey, I don't know what to tell you.

Personally, I like him. Though I'm probably able to say that because he isn't on a team I root for (at best I pull for Missouri when one of their conference games is on)
He's kind of like a NCAA version of Tony Romo. The kind of QB you'd expect to see at Penn State being lauded for his "moxy".
But still, he seems like a pretty good guy and I hope he develops for them.

I'll disagree with this statement all day long. You can't choose one outlier against all the other games to back this statement up. Not just that, you can't choose an outlier against a Top 10 team like UGA who is extremely talented AND was riled up beyond belief after all the doom and gloom that was spewed about their demise after the Gurley incident.

A soph who came into the game with a 14/4 TD/INT ratio and that's without his biggest target in DGB who also was lost in the off season. Josey left early at RB as well and outside of Hansborough at RB they don't have much else. Their WR core is led by Bud Sasser....Bud, Freakin', Sasser.

Mizzou's offense is short on weapons but pinning that on a young QB after playing UGA doesn't seem enough to say he's not a good QB, which I think is quite clear he is at least "good".

The last Buckeye quarterback who had an "outlier" like that was Joe Bauserman.

Mauk would be third string at Ohio State.

Was it a horrible game? Yes. Do plenty of very good QB's have those? Yes. I don't see how pointing to one bad, awful, no good game all of a sudden confirms his unworthiness.

And he may be 3rd string at OSU, or he may be the backup. Either way that's no small feat and again doesn't prove your point. He's still a soph starting his 2nd year in the SEC for a Top 25 team so beg my pardon if I think you are unfairly throwing this kid under the bus. JT had an awfully rough game against VT and it doesn't define him, this surely won't define Mauk as he'll go on to set many, many records at Mizzou.

And? Upsets happen. Pryor lost to Purdue, I don't think we'd discredit his career based off of one upset. You also chose a game Mauk played pretty well in with 331 yards and 2 TD's. I think I explained before how few offensive weapons he has at his disposal this year and is still playing pretty dang well.
