MMA pound for pound Top 10 List (BP Official)

I am sending out PMs shortly regarding the 3rd pound-for-pound poll. If you do not receive one, please do send me a PM any way, with your top 10 P4P guys, in order.

It's usually hard to get 10 replies to my requests, and I think we should be able to get at least twice as many as that considering how many folks on here watch MMA. Finally, need to get these votes in before the big Valasquez vs. Dos Santos fight on November 12th.

Thanks in advance to all who participate.

1 Anderson Silva- Still has it... Chael-Anderson is shaping up to be epic
2 Jon Jones- Hottest fighter in MMA
3 GSP- May not be the most thrilling champ, but still worthy of top 3
4 Jose Aldo- Earned his spot in the top 4 with some pretty impressive wins.
5 Cain Velasquez- JDS-Cain on cable television will be an absolute BRAWL! Can't wait!
6 Frankie Edgar- Impressive victory against Gray, but let's see him fight Gil!
7 Junior Dos Santos- THE best contender in any weight class IMO
8 Gil Melendez- Dana... Gil... Let's get this deal worked out so we can get some talent in the LW division!
9 Nick Diaz- On a serious win streak (11 straight)
10 Gray Maynard- Despite losing to Frankie, still VERY worthy of a top 10.

Not sure I feel great about putting 3 Lightweight fighters in my top ten, but Gil stays there until someone else steps up. Gray, fought his balls off twice in a row and ended up with his first draw and first loss of his career against Frankie. That's shaping up to be the next epic rivalry in the UFC. I feel that if I'm going to have a P4P ranking, the champs should be up at the top. That's just me though.

Official Buckeye Planet p4p poll v3. Fighter, then total points, then first place votes

1. Anderson Silva - 99 (7)
2. Jon Jones - 89 (2)
3. Georges St. Pierre - 86 (2)
4. Jose Aldo - 64
5. Frankie Edgar - 63
6. Cain Velasquez - 50
7. Dominick Cruz - 32
8. Gilbert Melendez - 25
9. Junior Dos Santos - 19
T10. Nick Diaz - 10
T10. Mauricio Rua - 10

Others receiving votes: Gray Maynard - 4, Jon Fitch - 2, Alistair Overeem - 2, Rashad Evans - 1

voters: sears3820, ImFrigginFly, buchtelgrad04, MD Buckeye, TooTallMenardo, Aviator330, JohnnyCockfight, BuckeyeMac, powerlifter, coryhulbert, GomerBucks

*one voter only submitted votes for his top 3 fighters, so I credited his top fighter with a first place vote and 3 points instead of 10, his second place vote with 2 points, and his third place vote with 1 point. This did not affect the order, and it was more fair to than giving those fighters 10, 9 and 8 more votes respectively over the field (i.e. GSP was not worthy of 10 more points than Jose Aldo, who would have been voted fourth in an average poll).

Big fight tonight for free on Fox between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos at 9:00. Long injury layoff for Cain, but he is a spooky dude and is the favorite.

UFC absolutely dropped the ball tonight. I thought it was a bad idea to only put on one fight before today, and it turned out I was right. While I loved the fight (who doesn't love a knockout?) my Twitter timeline is filled with people (including Evan Turner) upset that the fight was so hyped and only lasted one minute. You HAVE to have another fight on there, especially a number one contender's bout they have on the prelims. Not too mention that the fight they decided not to put on the broadcast was absolutely awesome and would have won over many many many viewers. But people don't get excited about a hugely hyped, one minute fight unless its a devestating knockout, which it wasn't.

Agreed. I didn't think they'd show just one. I figured they'd show 3 or so. But the hour on air and have the fight only be 1:04, killed the outcome of the marketing aspect of this move.

Now on the poll that was submitted. I'm a big GSP fan, and I also like Jones, but I'm surprised that he's higher than GSP in the poll. GSP has dominated his class for how long? He's defended the Welterweight 6 times.

Now if this poll was who is the hottest fighter, no doubt Jones is #1.
