Guys we are talking about pot here and not real drugs right? And yes, there is a big difference. No it does not excuse him, and yes it was dumb. But it is freeken pot. Normally anything > than 1oz is trafficking. I used to blow through that in a weekend.
Go ahead, fire away. I obviously am the minority.

Yeah, it was "just" pot. I understand that a lot of kids in college smoke it, and a lot of people on BP have smoked it, or still do. BUT, it is still illegal, and is still a felony to sell it. It's really tough to plead ignorance on this one too; most everyone knows it's against the law - That's what makes it so stupid; why put yourself in that situation? You have so little to gain, and so much to lose.

Well smoking a little weed, and selling a little weed are 2 different things in my book. Very different things. I am one that believes it should be legal, and I dont smoke it. 80% of the people I know smoke it on a regular basis.

I am 100% against drugs, including cigarettes.. however, the ONLY reason why I think it should be legal is because we'd probobaly reduce use by doing so.

EDIT: lol methomps, that did sound bad.

Well that dumb son of a bitch may have blew the opportunity of a lifetime by just trafficking in freeken pot.

I hope he put the seat up before pissing his chance of a lifetime away.

You are in the minority because you miss the point.

A scholarship athlete IS held to a higher standard than Joe Student, and for good reason. If I would've been busted for weed in my OSU days, no one outside of my suite (and parents) would've known about it. When a scholarship athlete gets busted, it's a national story that reflects negatively on the entire university.

Given our recent press, this is just a stupid, stupid act - by a back up freakin kicker, no less.

The black market strikes again! Another promising teenager whose life plans are now derailed, in part because we as a society refuse to acknowledge the damage the criminalization of minor drugs does to users. There are no safeguards, no oversight, no professional ethics or responsibility: the system is run by petty thugs interested only in lining their pockets, at the expense of their "customers". The goal of this black market is to bleed users dry, then discard them onto the streets or into jail--at the taxpayers' expense, of course.

Of course, I don't excuse Skeete's actions at all, since he is an OSU scholarship athlete and expected to live up to a certain set of standards, including abiding by the existing law... I just don't agree with that law, and think it's bad for everybody.

Do we know if this is weed? Or could it be coke, heroin, etc.?

Also, Why is it that we see other kids at schools making bad decisions recently (USC, Georgia, Tenn, S. Carolina, Wisconsin, Mich St., etc.) and eventually our name has to pop up in the list as well? Im really dissapointed in this...Since this is a felony and hopefully we dont put this kid back into OSU football jersey, could we give his scholly to Ryan Pretorious (sp?) so that next year we wouldnt be starting a true frosh kicker?

I don't know about that Alan, since it seems like a lot of OSU athletes smoke some weed during their college careers: I don't want to name names, but there were definitely a bunch of football partyers when I lived in Morrill Tower (especially a very prominent DB bust from Chicago).

"Not liking the law is fine, but pointless here"

What, this isn't a forum for discussion and opinions?

Give me a fucking break.

The kid fucked up on his own. No one else should in any way, shape, or form be held accountable.

I just have a really hard time with people defending this behavior. I have a great time in my life w/out using marijuana. I know from seeing it every day that it can be the gateway to stronger, more addicting drugs.

I guess what I would ask people defending using/selling marijuana is...if your child used and/or sold marijuana, would you support that? I have never heard one parent say, "Boy, I sure hope my son/daughter smokes dope when they get older...

On a side note, Agg Trafficking deals with the amount sold, if it was within 1000 ft. of a school, or if a minor was present. Any of these is completely unacceptable to me as a lifetime Buckeye fan.
