Fifteen plus years ago Wisky played UNLV a couple of times. As I recall the Rebs beat them once in a monumental upset. In any case, one of those years I got on an elevator at the Riviera enroute to a meeting there...it was filled with Wisky fans...all with a drink in their hand I might add. With a big smile on my face and my best Big Ten demeanor I welcomed them to Vegas and noted I was an OSU grad who lived here. You would have thought I crawled out from under a rock. They sliced and diced me from the bottom floor virtually to the top...no humor involved...just mean. So, I am not hesitant to label them the most arrogant I have ever run into.

Go Bucks!

Statistically speaking, according to http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/brief/natudoc/tier1/t1natudoc_brief.php
Notre Dame ranks 18th in the country among top universities and colleges, while OSU is at a respectful 60. Somehow Florida and Miami ranked ahead of OSU though, which is hard to believe. You're right though, a 4 year degree from most universities and colleges is often regarded about the same as any other 4 year program. Interestingly enough, the highest ranked state funded school is Berkeley in California.

I don't quite understand this logic. Are you creating a logic problem such that:
A) You are American
B) All Americans root for Notre Dame
Conclusion: You root for Ohio State, therefore you can't be American?
Personally, I've never heard Notre Dame referred to as America's team, but I've heard people mention that it has one of the largest fanbases because it stretches across the country, most likely due to the ties with some Catholics. That could be where it comes from if people do make that distinction, not a reason to be offended really. Just avoid those idiots :wink2:

Well, the second part is correct, but I wouldn't say the first part is true in all cases :tongue2:

With regard to university rankings, the most accepted international rankings tell a very different story...World Top 500 universities Ohio State #63, Notre Dame #191 (the national rank is #41 versus #85) see http://ed.sjtu.edu.cn/rank/2005/ARWU2005.xls.

I think if you also take a look at doctoral research programs or university research ratings, Ohio State dwarfs Notre Dame.

I wasn't suggesting that you indicated that Notre Dame was America's team, but how could you have escaped that term, which was used ad nauseum in the run up to our bowl game.

Notre Dame cannot be America's team because that suggests that everyone in America supports it. America's team is the national Olympic team. Period. By logic, if I am an American and I don't support Notre Dame, then Notre Dame cannot be America's team. I would also dispute that Notre Dame's followers are more widely dispersed than Ohio State's, as I sit typing in Cape Town at the very tip of Africa!

I salute you Mr. dillusional _ichigan fan. :slappy:

"Mr. stupid-assed MEAAAAT-Chicken fan!"

Yes, we salute you, Mr. stupid-assed meatchicken fan. Now that you've gone from losing 3 games a year to losing 3 games a month, your delusions of adequacy know no bounds. While yearning for the days of 1906...

"Where'd they go...now?"

...you still manage to somehow think that you are sporting the reincarnation of the 1985 Bears defense...

"Which one's gonna be FRIDGE?!!"

...despite giving up about 600 yards a game to your rival...who you can no longer beat, even in that cesspool of a stadium you call a home field.

So here's to you, Mr. stupid-assed Meatchicken fan. Just remember, when all else fails, relive your glory days...back before automobiles had been invented yet.

"Mr. stupid-assed Meeeeat-Chicken fan!"

I was in Pittsburgh for work yesterday afternoon and this morning. And the only thing worse than Pittsburgh fans is Pittsburgh fans looking at the Super Bowl.

I'm just kidding. I don't care enough about NFL to be annoyed with anything any of the fans do or say.
