Many years ago the NIT used to be a very prestigious tournament. I remember one year Marquette (Al McGuire's) team actually passed on the NCAA to play in the NIT. The story going around back then was that Al McGuire would rather win the NIT (and they did) than be in the NCAA and watch UCLA win another title (which they did too).....

Is this the bottom barrel tournament now, or is there something for teams that are even shittier?

I think the CIT re-branded to something even worse. Pretty sure you and I could play post-season ball if these tournaments needed warm bodies as this point.

I give you the inaugural field for The Basketball Classic, where even an 11-15 team from the MEAC has a chance to win a trophy.

Youngstown State earns the first The Basketball Classic win in program history, defeating Morgan State 70-65. The 84 people in attendance did not storm the court.

I actually bet on this game - and won. Easy money is easy money.
