He counts against the calculation to determine a team's number score (not as much as a kid who drops out in bad standing though), but you only lose scohlarships for the 0/2 people.
so am i on the right path saying even if you dont get the 925, but you have 3 guys go pro in good academic standing and no other hits to the number you are in the clear?

and i realize its a 3 yr avg score.

Another Problem

OSU is on the quarter system which helps football but hurts basketball players. While the majority of schools end their semester at the beginning of May OSU goes on into June. While a guy like Mike Conley is going to classes and working out when he can find time, a guy like Crittenton has already completed his Spring semester and can workout all day every day.

A player like Daequan Cook it really hurts because he is a bubble first rounder who needs to have good workouts but it is difficult for him to train when he has to attend classes also, while a guy like Brandon Rush who also is on the bubble has finished his semester and trains everyday.

Yes, if they are in good academic standing there will be no problem. For the "contemporaneous" penalties, you only lose scholarships when you are under 925 AND have 0/2 athletes.

However, if a team is under 900 (I think) for multiple years, they run the risk of "historical" penalties. This starts with a letter and then moves up the ladder to scholarships, practice time, postseason eligibility, and restricted D1 membership.

And its going to be a 4-year average beginning next year. And they will get rid of most of the squad size adjustments (perhaps even all). Next year is going to bite more of the big boys.

Maybe a blessing in disguise...

Some good comments in this thread.

I'm not sure if Litlbuck's comments were in response to my earlier post. If so, then I would like to point out that my post wasn't in response to the three freshmen leaving. r.

No! I was in total agreement with your post. I could not have agreed more. I am also a true believer that you really only the basics, for the lack of a better word, in college. The only way you really learn is by actually working. I am not saying that a person should not go to college but that is only where you get a degree.
