Nebrasketball as many in Huskernation are fond of calling it on the men's side has been so mediocre for so long most of Huskernation have resigned themselves to really low expectations.
The new downtown arena and new practice facility and upgrades to the Devaney center have injected a mainstream shot of hope straight into the subclavian vein of Huskernation where it can flow into the heart quick-time.
The genuine hope for the future of Nebraska's men's basketball has reached levels I've not witnessed before. So far I haven't seen anything on the recruiting front to justify this but it is still early. I've become sooooooo accustomed to our MBB futility I'm in a wait and see frame of mind.

Sorry I'm late. Should've checked in after Colorado. Unfortunately they followed that win with a turd at Texas Tech (72-71 tip in at the buzzer).

But they rebounded and upset #13 Texas A&M last Saturday.

Kansas State up next. Our big guy referenced above (Andre Almeida) severely sprained his ankle against A&M. I'm betting he's out for a few weeks, but it depends on his recovery time. They really need him back if they want to do some damage.

FYI - Nebraska is receiving votes in both polls (first time long time). Who knows, with a small run here, it might get a little interensting. I realize that's not a big deal to tOSU fans, and it's not to most NU fans either. But there's a few of us die hards that are just waiting for it....

Nebraska hasn?t won a conference championship since 1950 and is among three schools to never have won an NCAA tournament game. The Huskers haven?t played in the tournament since 1998.
Media relations director Keith Mann said Wednesday the timing of Osborne?s statement was ?partially? because of a Tuesday column by the Omaha World-Herald?s Lee Barfknecht.

Barfknecht criticized the public-address announcer?s gaffes and the halftime show. He wrote the production was ?symbolic of what looks like administrative numbness toward a major revenue-producing sport, which is puzzling at a school that prides itself on excellence.?
The Huskers, who ended a 13-game road losing streak with a 59-58 win at Oklahoma on Wednesday night, are 17-8 overall and tied for sixth in the Big 12 at 5-6. They finished last in the Big 12 last season and have not finished higher than sixth since the 1990s.
The school issued a 700-word release outlining what the athletic department has done and plans to do to enhance recruiting, improve results and increase crowds.
An $18.7 million practice facility is under construction. The team will move in 2013 from the 13,000-seat Devaney Sports Center to a 16,000-seat downtown arena. The Huskers join the Big Ten next season.
?We?ve spent a lot of time and energy and made a significant financial commitment to position basketball for the future,? Osborne said. ?Basketball is vital to our athletic program overall, and we would hope our commitment to strengthen the sport is viewed positively. Within the next three years, our basketball facilities will be among the very best in the country.?

I like Tim Miles, he's a very likeable coach and he's doing a good job trying to rebuild that program. I think he should last there a long time, if he chooses to stay. But he's going to have to choose wisely in recruiting because even with premier facilities and a great coach, it's hard to get highly rated hoops recruits to go there.
