Nebraska Cornhuskers (corn)

Surely, Minny or Northwestern can make it to 1 championship against the Buckeyes in that span.... :slappy:ok sorry couldn't even keep a straight face after typing that. That's how sad the west is

Nebraska better pick it up. If 20 years from now I have to listen to how Wisconsin went to 23 straight championship games I'm going to throw up......of course I may piss myself laughing at them losing 21 straight.

Okay, guys. Seems our offseason is getting pretty.....interesting.

First - this:

Wife: Former assistant coach abused me several times

LINCOLN, Neb. —The wife of former Husker assistant football coach Rick Kaczenski says an alleged weekend assault was the latest in a series of attacks against her.

Lincoln police arrested Kaczenski Sunday for third-degree domestic assault, a misdemeanor.
Neighbors called police when they noticed she had an injury to her forehead.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Jessica Kaczenski told investigators her husband struck her in the face with a picture frame, causing her forehead to split open.
Jessica Kaczenski also told police Rick had grabbed her around the neck, and caused fresh scratches to her neck and face, and that Rick also "spit in her face several times during the night."
According to the affidavit, "Jessica also revealed that she had been assaulted by Rick three other times since January."
Rick Kaczenski denied assaulting his wife, and told police she had fallen into the picture causing her head injury.
A former Nebraska football defensive line coach is accused of assaulting his wife.
Lincoln police arrested Rick Kaczenski at his south Lincoln home around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Police said they believe he threw a picture frame that hit his wife's head Friday night.
Kaczenski was with the Huskers from 2012 until last year.

Then, this:

http://huskercorner.com/2015/03/21/carl-pelini-reunites-bo-pelini-youngstown-st/

Former Florida Atlantic Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Carl Pelini is back coaching college football again. Carl will return to his alma mater and will join his younger brother Bo, as the defensive line coach for the Youngstown State Penguins. Prior to being hired by YSU, Carl had been out of football since his resignation on October 30th, 2013 amid allegations of illegal drug use.

Now, this:

http://www.si.com/nfl/2015/03/26/randy-gregory-failed-drug-test-combine-nfl-draft

"I was worse at Nebraska than I've ever been at any other time of my life," Gregory told Jones. "But I know how I am now. I think if teams really look at how I am now more so than the past, they'll see I'm making strides to get better, as a person and as a player. ...

"At the end of the day, it was my fault. I was being selfish. I was being stubborn. I felt like I could do things my way and it would work. And it didn't work."
Owning up to his maturity issues marks a positive first step for Gregory in this process. He no doubt told teams he met with at the combine the same: that he had learned from his mistakes and was working to better himself.

Gregory tested positive TWICE for weed whilst in Lincoln. TWICE. Claims he smoked so much weed that it lasted in his system for months.

I don't care right now about 5-7. This clownish behavior is hopefully resolved with the move of Bo away from the program.

The positive is that none of those people are with the program... though beyond the obvious nepotism, I have nothing but a shrug about Gregory or Carl (well until the Browns draft Gregory in the 1st round)
If anything, I think Nebraska will wish they still had Gregory.

BTW how is it Gregory popped twice and not even 1 game of suspension while Spence is banned? Stupid Conference...

Lawrence Phillips reportedly suspected of murdering cellmate

...Phillips was the star of Nebraska’s ’94 national championship team after rushing for 1,818 yards in his sophomore season. His success on the field was overshadowed by his legal issues and arrests off of it. Phillips pleaded guilty to vandalism and assault charges shortly after the title game. The next year he was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend...

From a '95 article about the Nebraska program- http://www.si.com/vault/1995/09/25/...y-in-the-man-who-runs-the-program-tom-osborne

Early in the week Osborne had said, "I wouldn't
call it a beating. But [Phillips] certainly did inflict some
damage to a young lady."

I mean, that is an actual damn quote about a situation where a guy severely beat and dragged a woman down stairs. But hey...

On Monday, Osborne said, "It's not as though Lawrence is an
angry young man all the time and a threat to society. But there
are occasions every four to five months where he becomes a
little explosive." Osborne added that Phillips might return in a
month--in time for the Oct. 28 game at Colorado, the most
daunting on the Husker schedule--if "medical people say some
significant changes have taken place."

‘Husker who killed raccoon with a wrench has truck stolen

It’s certainly been an interesting last few months off the field for one member of the Nebraska football program.

Jack Gangwish drew the ire of PETA this past December when, after taking a selfie with a raccoon he spotted on the side of a road, he killed the critter with a wrench after it bit him and reported the developments on social media. The defensive lineman is back in the news for a situation that will likely be viewed by the radical animal rights group as karma.

According to the Lincoln Journal Star, Gangwish’s black 1996 Ford F-250 pickup, the same vehicle that drove him to the raccoon encounter, was stolen at some point between 8 p.m. Saturday evening and 7 a.m. Sunday morning. The police investigating the theft stated that Gangwish had left his keys in the unlocked truck.
