New DC Thread (Merged all relevant)

BuckShots is a member of the "secret society" though :wink2:

Did they throw Kyle and Susan out yet?

Yeah... Queue X-Files theme.

Like I said on the other thread... Tucker makes a "a lot of Sense"-- but its hard to tell, seemed like Tucker was a little frustrated with being the clear second DC... but he was good enough to get that extra title, even having quite a bit less experience than Snyder, and the DB play has always been strong.

Gotta say... I'm kind of rooting for Blackney... just like the idea of a veteran guy coming in for this season (I don't think long term with these coordinators anymore... )

(Also, on the Heacock stats at YSU... as far as points allowed... maybe their offense is rotten... I don't know... We'll be in good shape with any of the three... )

Heacock

He has to be telling people that this could happen and preparing people and since he is Tressel's good friend and sure there is an understanding of where he stands with the other candidates. When it happens it will go fast and need the new person down here right away. Tucker and Blackney could change their mind and then you do not want to be a square 0 especially at spring ball all three have positives and the best thing is OSU will be fine hence Tressel's strong indorsement of Snyder. Tucker's issue is moving the family again but a no brainer and his new boss would understand and give him time to get his replacement. Crazy timing by Marshall and very unique situation. will see

BTW... what ever happened to the inter-forum BS board?
It was axed as BP grew and became more comfortable in its own identity. It was time to move away from the BN harping we were all guilty of at one time or another. The board is still there...just invisible. The threads can still be accessed..

...heacock was also DC for a spell in the 90's when ysu was quite dominant defensively.

YSU had three years in the 90s in which you could say their defense was dominant:

1990 - 12.2 ppg, with five games of seven or less points (two shutouts), highest points surrendered was 27 (once)
1994 - 10.1 ppg, with nine games of 10 or less points, all games but one were under 20 points (and that one was exactly 20 points)
1996 - 11.9 ppg, with six games of 10 or less points (two shutouts), but did give up 23+ points three times

Most other years the defense was decent, but they had one year where the defense was actually suspect:

1999 - 24.1 ppg, with five games of 31+ points surrendered including 47 and 59 point games

By the way, 1999 was the year YSU made it to the national title game, only to have their 15-game playoff win streak snapped.

All i can say is that Nevada is much closer on this one than I am......all credit goes to Nevada...

The only thing that I do know is that Heacock is very interested in the job and is in consideration....

Unfortunately, I am obligated by moral/ethical reasons to not report what I witnessed on Tuesday...

What was the name of the DC, when Cooper first beat Michigan, that broke the glass window in the box, because he was so excited? He also had a warrant for his arrest, at one time, for beating his wife, I believe. Can remember the name.
Three different incidents here:
1. Coach Cooper put his fist through a chalkboard during either a pre-game or halftime pep talk with the team in the 1994 scUM game. That was the year he beat them for the first time at tOSU.
2. Former QB Coach Tim Salem put his fist through a glass window in the press box during our 1998 game against Penn St. He was celebrating a short TD pass from Joe Germaine to Michael Wiley.
3. As others have pointed out, it was former O-Coordinator Mike Jacobs who was arrested for beating his wife.

Now I can almost hear my wife saying "how do you remember that stuff and still forget to < insert insignificant task or event here >?" Not being from Columbus, she just doesn't understand.

I'm not guessing on this one fellas(I'm dealing with the situation first-hand).....I am absolutely certain of my info.....

If someone is saying that Heacock has the job they are flat wrong....the only way he ends up with it is if Tucker and Blackney both pass....

and that is not likely to happen---

what a luxury it is that Tucker and Blackney are both in the mix...

Nevad or Alan,

Do you know what the timeframe for filling the job is? When does coach Tucker owe coach T an answer as to wheather he excepts or declines.

I know coach Blackney is a first class individual & a great defensive mind. Does anyone know if he is on the level of a Tucker when it comes to recruiting?

Is it safe to say coach Pug is out of the running should Tucker and /or Blackney turn it down?

Thanks.
