With all the news and debates coming out over the upcoming wave of next generation consoles I wanted to have a place where such information could be posted. Looks to be some quality technology being used in these next consoles.
One new rumour has the xbox 720 having a 16 core CPU.

From Article:
"The 16-core processor in particular would be a surprising addition, as it's future tech even for high-end PCs. AMD launched the world's first 16-core processor for the business market in November last year.
XBW explains: "It's a ridiculous amount of power for a games machine - too much power, even. But remember, Kinect 2 could chew up four whole cores tracking multiple players right down to their fingertips, so it'll need a lot of power."
This article suggests that the new xbox will have Blu-ray and have a continuous internet connection:

A few pages that have a good overview of information about the 720:

For you PS4 guys:

For Both Xbox and PS4:
I think this is the story within the story and that is who comes to market first, who takes the time to balance true quality next gen tech with a proper price points.

From Article:
"Additionally, Sony has managed to gather a lot of ill will in the gaming community and beyond. You can trace this back as far as the CD rootkit scandal of 2005. Or maybe it was Sony's Ken Kutaragi suggesting that gamers should work more hours in order to pay for the super-expensive launch PS3. Sony became famous for its arrogance and a lot of gamers aren't yet ready to forgive.
Sony is also reeling from a bad year, cutting 10,000 jobs and reporting a $6.4 billion loss. What will this mean for the PS4? It's hard to say, though games are one of the 3 main focuses for new Sony President Kaz Hirai's turn-around plan (the other two are mobile and digital imaging). With so much emphasis on Sony's gaming business, maybe the company can make amends with the gaming community."
.....
I personally think Sony needs to be very smart and turn the corner much faster than they did with the PS3. Even though I am a XBox fan I like a strong PS fanbase as competition brings the best for both groups. I also want to see Microsoft come out of the gates with a finished product instead of having me buy 3 different "improvements" of the same console.
