Free agent cornerback Richard Sherman has found himself in trouble with the law. Sherman was charged with burglary domestic violence on Wednesday morning in Seattle, according to King County public records. The former San Francisco 49ers defensive back was booked at the Seattle Correctional Facility and was denied bail. The notice stated the incident is being investigated as a felony.

Shortly after this development was reported, the NFLPA issued this statement about Sherman, who serves as a VP on the executive committee.

"We were made aware of an arrest last night of one of our player leaders for an alleged domestic violence incident and have activated our domestic violence crisis protocol for the protection and support of everyone involved. We will continue to monitor events closely as more facts are made available to us."

Former Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks got one day in jail and probation in an insider trading case

"I never want to relive this again," the linebacker said in court Thursday before a federal judge sentenced him to just one day in jail, thanks in part to his ongoing cooperation with the government.

It’s been three years since former Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks told federal investigators he conspired with friends to carry out an insider trading scheme. He was cut by multiple teams, repeatedly and publicly reliving his misdeeds.

The worst part, he said during his long-awaited sentencing hearing Thursday, was not knowing what this week would bring.

“I’ve been a role model, and it’s tough when a little kid comes up to you and asks if you’re going to jail,” Kendricks said, standing at a podium, his voice shaking. “For the past years, I haven’t been able to answer that.”

Now he can. Kendricks was sentenced to one day in federal custody — he’d be out later Thursday — and three years of supervised release. He must pay a $100,000 fine and serve 300 hours of community service in the Philadelphia region.

His agent, Doug Hendrickson, told ESPN Thursday that Kendricks is an unrestricted free agent and that interested teams had been waiting for the sentencing to take place before proceeding.

Not a "police blotter" item a this time, but still....

In a nutshell, a lawsuit filed by Genetixs LLC accuses Jones and White of involvement in efforts to divert cannabis products from an otherwise legal cultivation and distribution operation in order to make black-market sales. The lawsuit alleges that Jones, White, and multiple other defendants have sold since March 2021 a whopping $3 million per month of cannabis products on the black market, and that they laundered money arising from those sales.

“The vague allegations against SLW Holdings LLC and its members Roddy White and Julio Jones are meritless,” attorney Rafe Emanuel said in a statement issued to the Tennessean. “In May, SLW obtained a temporary restraining order in a related civil case to prevent unlawful conduct involving Genetixs LLC. In reply, the defendants argued conspiracy theories that were not proven by evidence in court, nor were they substantiated before any agency.”

Atlanta Falcons practice squad wide receiver Cameron Batson was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly fighting with police following a traffic stop and fleeing the scene.

Atlanta Police told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Batson was pulled over around 2 a.m. Saturday after speeding and failing to maintain his lane on an interstate. Police said Batson failed a sobriety test before the situation turned physical.
