NIT: #1 Ohio State vs. #3 Dayton, Wed. 9 pm at the Schott ( ESPN2)

I think Dayton might actually have the motivation to give the Bucks a game...anyone else feel the same way? Plus, I think tonight was the best that the Buckeyes have played all year. You almost never know what to expect so Wednesday's game will be interesting to say the least.

I fully expect Dayton to put up a much better fight than Cal did tonight. The Bucks better bring an effort like tonight's, or it'll be the Flyers heading to NYC.

:oh: Looking forward to it. :io:

This is going to be a wierd one for me to watch. I was raised on Flyer basketball and didn't really fallow the Buckeyes until I enrolled at Ohio State. I'm sure once the game starts I'll be all Buckeyes but right now I'm torn. This must be how all those MAC Buckeye fans feel when they play us in football. Hmmm....

I was born and raised in Youngstown and am a huge YSU fan, but there was no question on who I was routing for when the Penguins set foot in The Shoe.

OSU has varied history with Ohio teams
From staff reports

COLUMBUS -- The Ohio State men's basketball team's road to the semifinals of the NIT will be blocked by a local competitor. Dayton rallied Monday to beat Illinois State 55-48 to advance to the quarterfinals and will play at Ohio State. It will be the teams' first meeting since 1988.

Should be a great game... Flyer Faithful will travel well... I'd posit that this game means a lot more to us than it does to tOSU... Sure it's for a trip to NYC, but a win over the Bucks would give the Flyers a major recruiting boost within the state..

If I were tOSU, I'd press from beginning to end... UD has had lots of trouble all year with it... But I agree with Tlangs... If Matta doesn't come out of the zone and double B-Rob, he's going to go for 30+...

I think Koufos and Hunter will have trouble on the defensive end if they are matched up with Huelsman and Wright respectively... Wright is too quick for Hunter and Koufos can't defend a real post guy...

I think Koufos will have a big edge on the offensive end against Huelsman... Wright and Little can check Hunter though...

Roberts vs. Butler is going to be a really nice match-up... This game will be fun to watch... I'll be there in my Flyer attire!

I agree with everything you said except for "wright is too quick hunter". Hunter can hold his own defensively under the hoop. Keep in mind that wright plays the 3 spot and will be on the wing for the most part being guarded by lighty/turner/diebler in the zone. Also, Wright scores 75% of his points on "garbage" baskets. He gets a lot of offensive rebounds and stickbacks (which is OSU's weakness) as well as a lot of points in transition. UD rarely runs a set specifically for Wright, they just tell him to go get the ball off the rim.

This is true... But if Hunter is matched-up on him Wright would have the advantage... And earlier in the year Roberts had Wright as an outlet on the wing if he was double-teamed... So I look for him to start finding that again...
I think my comment stemmed from some posters at Scout claiming that Hunter would shut Wright down...
