North Carolina Tar Heels (official thread)

By Miami's standards, yeah- he did run a pretty clean program. But you gotta put that into perspective. That's like the 17 year old kids who get done with football practice and spray on some axe and call themselves showered. Clean by their standards...

Not sure what you're referring to, but I cannot recall any violations at Miami under Davis nor could I find any while searching. Now, there were several under Erickson that Davis inherited, but nothing that points to Davis. Is there something I'm missing?

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina athletic director Dick Baddour
says NCAA investigators have returned to campus this week.

Baddour said investigators were in Chapel Hill on Wednesday and
Thursday, though he would not reveal specifics of their visit. The NCAA
is looking into whether defensive tackle Marvin Austin and
receiver Greg Little received improper benefits from agents.

Baddour says the school is participating in the investigation and
that both the NCAA and North Carolina are "all working as quickly
as we can to get it resolved."

Prized UNC recruit Giovani Bernard tears ACL | CollegeFootballTalk.com
Expected to contribute to North Carolina's offense as a true freshman, Giovani Bernard will instead spend his first year in Chapel Hill rehabbing a fairly significant injury.

UNC announced Monday morning in a press release that the running back tore the ACL in his right knee. The release states that Bernard's injury will require season-ending surgery and he will receive a medical redshirt for 2010.

The Ft. Lauderdale native was a four-star back out of St. Thomas Aquinas and rated as the 14th-best player at his position by Rivals.com.

I think LSU's defense will allow for a disorganized LSU offense to win a close game. And I think LSU might get it's act together on offense too. I'm suspect the hiring of UF's receiver's coach gave them a whole new book of plays.

On College Football Live, they had Bobbah Bowden as a guest when they first talked about today's breaking news: that North Carolina is now being looked at for academic fraud. Allegedly a former tutor wrote some papers for some football players.

They didn't ask Bobbah his expert opinion about such a situation - I guess putting him on the spot wasn't part of his agreement to pimp his new book. :tongue2:

Around the ACC: Is This North Carolina Football's Day of Reckoning?

North Carolina has called a press conference for 7:30 p.m. EDT Thursday to update the public on the NCAA investigation that surrounds its football program. That investigation now includes alleged academic infractions uncovered by the university, according to Inside Carolina:
Officials from North Carolina uncovered the academic issues in its own review, pertaining to a tutor, and self-reported the findings to the NCAA.

Sources report the various players involved were relegated to the scout team at practice on Wednesday.
This includes "standout" players according to ESPN's Joe Schad.

Cont'd ...

Not a single game has been played but already we're seeing Chaos Theory of college football at work. How many teams will be decimated by the NCAA before the season even starts? Look at all the SEC teams being investigated. SC, Tennessee, Alabama. A weakened SEC just could get a lot weaker in the next couple weeks. And the ACC also.
