Notre Dame (football only discussion)

If I remember correctly I had ND winning 7 games and with 2 left that is still a possibility. The thing that [censored]es me off at this point is that they blew 3 games with half time double digit leads.

Way to many coaching errors, penatlies and an o-line that did not improve at all. Fire his ass....

It would make me feel better to lose to Syracuse after blowing a lead. I see where you're going with this one.

Oh, and I was smiling after the Michigan destruction.........then I heard about this score. You wanna talk about a permanent smile

Harbaugh would be a great fit at ND. I would even have trouble hating him.

And the UM-ND battles would be classics.

I agree. I'd actually love to see Harbaugh go to Notre Dame myself. Obviously i'd still hate them with a passion but I like Harbaugh as a coach and like his fire and well his recent hatred for Michigan is funny. For Notre Dame I think it would be smart. I mean, the guy seems to have it out for USC and Michigan on a level no other coach has for a program right now. Maybe bringing him to ND can get them competitive with ND and give UM an annual beatdown.

Irish wouldn't turn down bowl bid

While Notre Dame has turned down bowl invitations in the past, coach Charlie Weis said his team won't pass up a trip to the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, even if the Irish lose a lopsided game to No. 5 USC in Saturday's season finale (7 p.m., ESPN, 890-AM).
Sun Bowl executive director Bernie Olivas reiterated Monday that he would remain interested in the Irish even if they finish 6-6. The Trojans (9-1) are 29 1/2-point favorites over Notre Dame (6-5), which lost 24-23 to previously 2-8 Syracuse at home Saturday.
''The downside of not going to a bowl game is the extra practice that you miss to develop your younger players,'' Weis said. ''No one's jumping up and down to go to a bowl if [we] were to lose the game and end up 6-6. But at the same time, that's multiple practices and development that could be going on that you end up losing out on. It ends up hurting you in the long run.''
Notre Dame would play the third-place team from the Pac-10 in the Sun Bowl on Dec. 31. Oregon is 8-3 overall and 6-2 in the Pac-10 heading into Saturday's game at Oregon State. If the Ducks lose to the Beavers and California (7-4, 5-3) beats Washington, Oregon and Cal would tie for third and the Sun Bowl could choose either team.
There are scenarios that could prevent Sun Bowl officials from inviting Notre Dame. Olivas said 7-5 teams from the Big East must have been invited to a bowl before he can offer a bid to a 6-6 Notre Dame team. With two weeks remaining, four Big East teams have seven wins and one has six.

Ironically, ND caught football AIDS playing the Trojans.

There's no cure for football AIDS, but a lot of programs live a long and productive life despite their football AIDS. With proper treatment and topical ointment, there is no reason that football AIDS should be a death sentence.

Notre Dame should do the responsible thing, though, and always make sure to alert their partners about their football AIDS. NBC has a right to know.

It would still by Ty Willingham's fault, because everything that has happened at Stanford since is his fault, as well as at ND, as well as at Washington... Duh.

ND is cursed by Ty Willingham. It doesn't matter who they bring in...until the curse is lifted, ND will countinue to struggle. Charlie Weis' latest excuse.

ND has been cursed since '93, the last bowl win. Need to exorcise that demon before anything lol. Ever since the upset to BC that year after knocking off #1 and #2 the previous 2 weeks, ND hasn't won a bowl game and has only beaten BC once I think. They used to have a dominating record vs. BC, no longer. Its rather remarkable.

They beat Texas A&M in '93 in their bowl, right? Wasn't that the same year they lost to BC after beating Florida State? So they won the bowl that year, and not since. That is amazing. What's also amazing is that they won't be favored in the fucking Sun Bowl if they go this year.
