Notre Dame (football only discussion)

From NBCSports:

Today's loss to Michigan State was not an embarrassment. Nor was it an anomaly. It was reality. Since the exodus of Lou Holtz, Notre Dame has a record of 75-50, or precisely a .600 winning percentage. That's a 6-4 record every 10 games, which is at best in college football, average. No better.

Reality is what it is and I can't believe that Notre Dame has dropped down so low. What once was an "Icon" in college football has become very embarrising. Poor Lou Holtz and Bob Davey. What they must be going thru right now.

According to my math classes, (since every game has a winner and a loser) a record of .500 would be average. And therefore, a record of .600 would actually be above average.

Yes, but FBS (1-A) teams inflate their winning percentages above .500 by scheduling FCB (1-AA) teams.

Well, that works for most major college teams, :wink2:

Notre Dame isn't a party school. It's an academic powerhouse.
Then maybe Notre Dame should start scheduling other "academic powerhouses" like Army, Navy, Air Force, Stanford, Duke, Rice, Vanderbilt, Northwestern....

Oh, wait a minute. The Irish have already been doing that for decades....

I like how instead of cutting out film time, he's now cutting out weight room time instead....

gee that will help this team out....

I heard, haven't verified yet, that as of today Sunday September 23, 2007, every D - IA team has at least one win this year except for NoD/NoO.
No, there's quite a number of teams that have no wins. Marshall, Rice, Temple, Colorado State, Utah State, and the vast majority of the Sun Belt Conference (La.-M, FIU, North Texas, La.-L, and MTSU) all are winless. Question is, how many of them won't be winless when ND finally picks up a win?

Notre Dame athletics director Kevin White said his school has been unable to consider Minnesota for an opening opponent for the Gophers' on-campus stadium in 2009. San Diego State, by the way, was sought as Minnesota's stadium-opening opponent but has been unable to get out of a previous commitment.

That's right Domers, you're now on record as being "Plan B" for teams that want to schedule a W when they can't get San Diego State.
